I've noticed my 8 month old golder retiever is panting a lot more in non-active settings. He also drinking a lot more water. He was neutered 6 weeks ago so I am not sure if this is contributing. I live in Atlanta GA and the wether has gotten a little bit warmer which could be a factor. Does these seem normal or should I take him into the Vet? Thanks, Max

Bleeding cat
Posted on 2008/03/05 by johnHi, I am quite worried about my cat and would appreciate any help you could provide. We noticed her wheezing and found drops of blood where she had been sitting. Upon inspection, we realised the blood had come from her nose. We took her to the vets, who said she had an ear infection with small polyps inside them. They gave her a steroid injection and some ear drops for us to put in. We have done this and her ears they say are better. However, her occasional wheezing has returned and there has once more been blood from her nose. We believe the return of these two symptoms came as the steroid injection was due to wear off. We have a further appointment in...

Dog with watery eye
Posted on 2008/03/10 by UserMy 6 year old black lab is sick. She has one eye that waters continuously. The light bothers it and she won't let me touch it. She also has blood in her mucus. She has so much mucus that she is constantly snorting it and licking it off her nose. She sleeps all day and doesn't excited about anything anymore. She is losing weight and doesn't eat much. This has been going on for a month and the vet doesn't know what it is. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

Pepper has a very dry cracked nose that is bleeding a couple times a day for the last week I am unable to get him to the vet at this moment but intend to ASAP. He was given medication last summer at a emergency hospital for the same condition they seemed to think by the looks of it was a auto immune disease the meds cured him for awhile but never cured the dryness of his nose which I was told to put KY jelly on to keep moist the last 2 weeks his nose has been terrible it bleeds and is sore and cracked he is contantly licking it which makes it worse I have him on 3 benedryl every 5 to 6 hours ( 100lb dog) it helps with the...

steroid induced diabetes
Posted on 2008/03/19 by annecat takes 10mg p/d prednisone to maintain asthma but must go to 20 mg. p/d when it flares up. Was diagnosed fall 06 with diabetes,(after a prolonged time on higher dose including shots) it cleared up after 2 mons. for over a year til now, even though she's has not been on any high dose for a couple of months. So i am thinking it MIGHT be here to stay. I've read about the honeymoon period information but am not sure if that applies to all diabetes or just more organic types. I felt last time I gave her insulin that often times it was too much. She never collapsed but she was acting wierd, stumbling etc. and it scared me. My questions are do any of the oral medication...

Coughing Dog
Posted on 2008/04/16 by UserHello- My 17 mo old Chesapeake Bay Retreiver has been "coughing" for the past couple of days. It is not constant but happens more when she is active and seems more like she is trying to gag something up (if that makes any sense) She hasn't had any exposure to other dogs and it doesn't seem like kennel cough but I don't know. Any ideas? I''m trying to see if there is something I can do at home for her before having to make a Vet appt. Thanks! Jennifer

Dog unable to stand & head tilt
Posted on 2008/04/19 by UserMy dog is taking enalapril for his heart, a bronchodilator theo-dur, previcox for his arthritis & optimmune to produce tears for his eyes. His health has been declinging in the past year. In the past 6 mos, he only gets up to go outside & to eat. Which I contribute to loss of stability in his hind legs. I recently made a ramp to assist him in going outside which still required assistance by a family member. He's been vomiting off & on lately. Other than going outside to the bathroom & eating, he no longer mobile. This morning I went to assist him to go outside & noticed he had vomited & urinated on his area of the rug. He couldn't stand w/...
