Breathing

  • I am very worried because we recently noticed that my 7 y/o dog has a distended stomach especially after eating. He is an active male of healthy weight and does not seem to have any other problems. We recently noticed that his stomach is swollen especially after he eats. He is still active and has no loss of appetite. He went to the vet Friday where they took x-rays and did blood work. Clear fluid came out when they took it from his abdomen indicating there was no blood at the time. X-rays showed it didn't seem like it was the kidneys and also that there may be something there but it was obscured by the fluid. Just today, I noticed he whines when he lays down and I think...

  • Very Sick Cat

We live on a farm and have a stray cat that has been hanging around. We bought goats last week and one of them passed away yesterday. This morning the cat was lying on my porch, seemed almost paralyzed, unable to move except head, twitching, labored breathing. Any clue what it could be and do you think it could be related to whatever killed the goat?

  • Need help understanding

Let me start by saying that I am deeply saddened today, as our 10yr old sheltie passed this morning, we put him down. I am just trying to wrap my mind around why and find some comfort in the decision we made. About 2yrs ago he was diagnosed w/hypothyroid and an autoimmune disorder. He was immediately and on-going placed on thyroid medication and steroid therapy. in the past few weeks he began to become aggressive, had trouble finding a comfortable sleeping place, excessive panting, disoriented, aggression (even towards me), and while at the vet this week he began seizing. His blood work week before last showed high white blood cells and this week after being placed...

  • Head cold in kitten

how can i help my kitten who has no snott but is congested and breaths thru mouth so shes not eating?

  • My 10 day old pup is not doing well, he is not gaining weight and he has vomitted twice, he is half the size of the second smallest pup. He is fighting to live, I feed him separately from the others so i know he got a good long feeding. I also hear a bit of rattling in his chest. is there anything i can do for him?

  • Problems following castration.

I really hope you can help with this. On thursday we took our dogs to be neutered, one was absolutely fine no problem. My dog, Monkey, has changed completely - he was biting at his stitches at the vet so they gave him a collar - which caused him stress so we took it off. Monkey is just over 6 months and a shih tzu, he used to be off a nervous disposition but through walks and socialisation he seemed a lot more like his outgoing brother who we also own. Monkey apparently had both testicles moved so his was to be the simple straightforward operation. Friday morning we asked for some painkillers as he seemed to be in pain. Anyway in spite of these painkillers...

  • Kitten with stuffy nose

  • guinea pigs (not sadie)

Every time we get guinea pigs (we always get 2) they live for a few months maybe a year and they die. They don't eat or drink much if at all, their eyes become dull and sink in and they eventually lay on their side with shallow breathing. They blead through their but as we discover when we go to burry them. They got clened out every 3 days. We have a rabbit inside as well as Zebra Finches and a dove. They all are in one room. We tried disenfecting the cage and even let it sit for a year and a half before getting any more. Our rabbit isn't affected at all. Any ideas what might be happening and is ther any point to getting new ones?
