Our 2.5 yr old beagle mix Daisy snorts and does hacking coughs occasionally. But sometimes, she'll go into a licking frenzy, snort (not reverse sneezing), swallow, and spit up white mucus. During this frenzy she will eat any fuzz or anything else on the floor (something she doesn't normally do). It's almost like she's trying to clear her nose of mucus and swallow it. If I put her in her crate she will lick the floor of it or the sides. If I hold her she'll try and lick/eat my hair or just lick the air. Posted on 2008/06/14 by LoriMy dog is very lethargic and panting a lot. We went to the vet yesterday and they took blood, urine, etc...., but she seems to have gotten worse. I took her temperature today and it is 101.3...normal. She is just very out of it, and seems to be depressed. Also the panting and breathing heavily is bad. She's a golden retriever, 7 years old, on thyroid medication(soloxine), has allergies(takes an antihistamine daily too), and tends to have a very sensitive belly. She may also be having an increase in the number of times she is urinating. Or it just may be because of the hot weather, and I am giving her a lot more water daily. My 11 year old dog has been very lethargic lately and his eye membrane is coming up on his eyes. Is it the flu or a cold? He has also had several episodes over the last few months where he breathes in very sharply almost like a wheez and this will go on for several minutes and sometimes even longer. The vet told us it was like a backwards hiccup. Are these related?

Have I made my dog sick?
Posted on 2008/09/21 by UserI gave my dog a tiny bit (The size of a thumbnail) of a veggie patty. she has been sick with a staph infection (internal) and has been on antibiotics for a month. She is still losing weight. 9 lbs lost. she has a good appetite but is lethargic and has pale inner eyelids and gums. Vet said her RBC is now 15 and her albumin level is still high. Could that be caused from the bit of the veggie patty?

Tinkerbell is an older dog, but likes to play and have fun. However, lately she has been having trouble walking and sometimes will just fall down for no reason. She also will have times where for several days she will not get up because it appears she is in pain. It will subside, and everything appears to be normal. During this time, her legs are stiff and massaging her lower back and giving her baby aspirin seems to help a lot. She also has constantly goopy eyes and she sneezes and hacks quite frequently (unrelated to latter condition). What could be wrong? We feel bad for her, but being she is so old, we wonder what we can do for her.

Sounds like he is snorting

I have a cat that is almost 13 years old and she has been breathing funny for a long time. I mentioned this to my vet back in the summer and she thought maybe it was because it was hot. She is still breathing hard and I took her in to the vet and they thought she might have asthma. Gave me some prednisolone tablets for her but she got diarhea so I stopped them. She is losing weight I think but still eating, not coughing or sneezing. Not as active as she used to be. Talked to the vet about cutting the pill in half and trying again. Is there some way to tell if she has something else. Should I ash about getting a blood test or x-ray etc. The vet did mention that...
