Porkchop (2yo Bulldog) started over 2 weeks ago w/ severe vomiting out of nowhere. Lead to coughing up mucous, sometimes bloody, and then a bad nosebleed in his sleep. He aspirated and got pneumonia- put on 2 antibiotics for stomach irritation & pneumonia. Ran blood and found elevated liver enzymes. Also slight anemia. He got much better, and seemed fine. We ran blood again and bile acid to be sure- enzymes still elevated but lower than before, and the bile acids were high- anemia was gone. Vet suggested liver being damaged by phenobarbital & potassium bromide, which he has been on for epilepsy since 4 months. Made appt. to see neurologist next week to make...

Posted on 2009/09/19 by UserMy male cat (5 years old), Quincy, has been lethargic for going on 4 weeks now...the vet did blood work, ultrasound and x-rays, along with 2 physical exams. The ultra sound and xrays showed a slightly enlarged liver, but the bile acid test showed levels in the normal range. He was showing a little anemic and had slightly low albumin levels. Now he is scratching endlessly and has a large bald spot between his shoulder blades with areas he has scratched to the point of bleeding. His ears are also becoming very inflamed due to his scratching. Any ideas or help would be GREATLY appreciated.

my dog is a 5year old boxer. we got up on monday to find her with a swollen face and bumps like hives all down her head and body. Our vet thought she had had an allergic reaction to something and gave her antihistamines. Her face swelling went down and her bumps went away but the bumps have been returning alot over the past few days, coming and going on their own and she keeps crying for no apparent reason. and then we got up today and her ears are swollen. whats wrong with her?

Dog walking sideways, falls, but seems to...
Posted on 2009/09/25 by UserMy mom's dog is walking sideways and falling. It seems like she sways left and then she will sway all the way right and fall, or vice versa. She doesn't seem to be able to walk straight at all. This has been going on since Wednesday. The vet said it wasnt anything in her heart and when she was moving her limbs and checking her out, the dog never yelped or cried, and seemed to be in no pain. They gave her antibiotics and pain medication, and its still happening. What could this be?

Posted on 2009/09/26 by UserSince yesterday, my 5 month old chihuahua has been passing bloody diarrhea and his stomach last night felt as if something was moving around, it could have been from him wincing from the pain because his belly was growling and making odd noises as if he was sick with his stomach. I went to Wal-Mart and picked up worm medicine and administered it to him. but he is showing no signs of feeling any better, while he has not used the bathroom he is not playful and just wants to sleep constantly. Please let me know if I should take him to the hospital or if it's something that will pass.

Posted on 2009/09/28 by LauraI adopted my cat, Monster in April from the Seattle Humane Society. He was a sweetheart, loving, cuddly and active. I started working in June, and so I wouldn't leave him alone for so may hours in the apartment, I decided to adopt a little kitten for him. I introduced them slowly so it wouldn't be traumatic, and at first Monster didn't like the new kitty, but he has grown to really love him, they have lots of fun together. However, Monster was never the same again with me and my husband, eh won't let us touch him, pet him, and moves away whenever we move near him. We never gave the new kitten any special treatment, we actually made sure we were giving Monster more...

guinea pig losing wieght
Posted on 2009/10/03 by Userhelp, my guinea pig Rosie has been losing weight, fast and her eyes are crusty. She has been hiding away in her shelter, every day. Although, she seems to be eating and drinking just fine. This happened to one of guinea pigs a while back, she died a few weeks later. please help me before its yo late.
