  • My dog was diagnosed with immune mediated Thrombocytopenia on Friday. She was peeing blood, and had multiple petechiae on her belly which have turned into several large dark purple/blue patches about 4" in diameter. She has thrown up blood several times thursday night thru sunday am (looks like coffee grounds) puddles about the size of a dinner plate. She was given a shot of Vincristine in the office and is on Prednisone, cimetidine, and azathioprine. She has stopped eating, but does drink. The vomiting has slowed down, but the blood has not stopped in her urine. When she goes, it is not just tinged with blood, it looks like completely blood, and is now...

  • 2 yr old Quarter Horse Gelding. When we saw him to buy he was fine. When we got him home he had a clear mucus. We got the vet to come out and give him antibotics. Which didnt really seem to help as it still came back off and on. We just had the vet come out about a week ago. His mucus has been changing colors such as a yellow or brown. He is updated on all shots. Now yesterday his right nostril is 2x the size of the other as being swollen. His breath is a horriable smell. He is not eatting as he normally would. His nostril is also closed up more than the other causing him to breath funny. I know ill have to be getting a vet out soon but i wanted to know if there is...

  • Advice needed for anemic dog

PLZ my dog is anemic (severly anemic). we gave her iron and poly-vitamins in vain. she is still very sick. PLZ HELP WHAT CAN I DO, knowing that her vet refuses to give her a blood tranfusion.

  • Re: about Sweety

Thank you for your help Donna. My vet isn't accepting a transfusion because, i quote :"There is no dog from the same breed, and he doen't have the accessories for such a manoeuver" to be honest my vet is trying to cure the symptoms not the cause, from my point of view. it was by mistake, after a false first diagnostic, and after that i insisted submiting sweety to a blood test that we discovered that she had anemia. she had a surgery over a year ago. an Oeusterectomy (she had an infection of the uterus and it had to be removed). for a while, after the surgery, she was fine then her health began to decline. could it be from the surgery? why didn't she...

  • Possible uri infection?

Good evening, my 15-month old short-haired tabby has been running a fever for 3 days, not eating, not drinking water, lethargic, eyes half closed and sleeps for long hours; no energy. She does not have discharge from her eyes or nose, no coughing or sneezing. She is outdoors during the day and indoors at night. The symptoms became apparent on Monday evening. Tuesday night I took her to the Vet Emergency room; the Vet diagnosed Upper Respiratory Infection. She had a fever of 105. She was given 150 CC of Normasol, 100 mg Ampicillin, .075 mg of diphenhydramine. Prescribed Clavamox drops 1ml and Afrin Nasal Spray. Today, Wednesday, her symtoms have not subsided. ...
