My mousie escaped out of her cage and wandered into my rats cage. She has this huge gash near her eye and she has not been opening it at all. She lost a lot of blood and I don't know what to do. I have been trying to call all the animal hospitals in the area but none of them take small animals. My mousie, Princess, has been moving around, she unfortunately has this wheezing sort of sound coming from her. I think she is trying to squeak but something happened somewhere. I sent my boyfriend out to get some tetracyline and vitamin drops so I can try to get her body back to running a lil better. Please please please help me. Posted on 2009/08/23 by Userhello, i have a hairless rat. i just noticed a few minutes ago that he has ripped out his back nail and it is bleeding. he is nibbling/licking it and is hesitant to put it on the ground. i cleaned it using baby wash (since that is recommened to bathe a rat) and put a dab of neosporin on it. i'm just concerned about infection. what should i do to prevent it? i'm only 17 and my parent's aren't true animal lovers, and i don't think they would take my rat to the vet. so i really want to keep his foot clean

Mitchell the Rat
Posted on 2009/08/18 by HannahMitchell is usually a healthy rat, but saddly his health is deteriating really fast. He isn't even a year old only a couple of months... He is suffering from severe weight loss, blood around the nose, breathing problems. We have taken him to the vets and they can't find anything wrong with him. His mate leon died from all these symptoms. We clean there cage every fortnight or so, fresh water and food everyday. I have been searching for a couple of weeks now for a disease but nothing fits that discription! please, I don't think he has much longer to wait.

Hello I have 6 rats two of which are young. One of the younger ones suddenly couldnt hold his head up ad kept lying down all the time but the next day was fine, now the other younger one has got the same symptoms. Is this going to affect all my rats and is it serious?
