What can I do for pain?
Posted on 2008/11/12 by KimHi I have a pet dwarf rabbit of about 4 years old. He is free to roam the garden, stays outside, never uses any form of shelter I make for him and is a pleasure to hold and fondle :) Last week I noticed an inflamed eye and took him to the vet. In South Africa we don’t generally have bunnies as pets so our vets are not as clued up as the UK vets. He has severe “UV-it is” or something and over the past week his eye has filled with puss despite drops being administered 4-8 times a day… he is eating bags of celery and some pellets, is right off carrots, his eye is now swollen and rheumy, the fur is thinning around it (maybe from scratching, not too sure) and they...

I recently noticed that all a sudden Thumper looks lie she is having a stroke. She falls to her side and she cannot get back on her feet but within 30 seconds she is fine. It has happened twice in 3 days - her legs will not hold her up right. What is happening to her?

Emergency Rabbit Care
Posted on 2008/10/11 by NoelleMy rabbit is grinding her teeth very loudly. I've noticed that she has ate some plastic from her litter box. There are no emergency rabbit vets in Mt. Pleasant, MI. I checked her mouth, but was unable to see if there is anything stuck in her mouth. She is more docile than normal when holding her. She has urinated in her litter since yesterday and there are pellets. I am not sure on if she has drank any water from her bottle. There was some soft black pellets stuck to the bottom of her cage. Her ears are raised. Please advise if there is anything I can do. She will not accept a treat from me.

6 week old bunnies
Posted on 2008/10/10 by ElaineI just lost 2 six week old bunnies in the past 2 days. Out of the 5 I started with, these two were the "runts". I got them when they were 10 days old, and fed them a kitten replacement milk until they were 4 weeks old (at 3 weeks they were starting to nibble at Timothy hay). I went by the guidelines on how much to feed from the internet (rabbit breeders).Im afraid the 2 remaining babies may go too (they were the 2 biggest ones). It happened all of a sudden with no warning. The 2 that passed were running around one nite, and the next morning one of them was lethargic and very listless and huddled in the corner. Then the same thing happened to the other. They have...
