my chinchilla suddenly became ill tonight, after cleaning his cage he became very lethargic, his ears are red and hot, he seems to be breathing differently. What is the best emergency care for a chinchilla until i can get to a vet?

Sick cattle
Posted on 2009/01/08 by UserI purchased a steer from a live stock auction 4 days ago. The steer has a cough and no energy. The day after the purchase I wormed him and gave a 18 ml shot of LA200 (antibiotic) but he is still doing poorly. Is there anything else that I need to do? He eats a little but not much.

Gerbil Doesn't Run on His Wheel
Posted on 2008/12/27 by HayleeI have a gerbil, and he doesn't run on his wheel. He has other things to do, like chew toilet paper rolls, and he does them. Is it normal for my gerbil to not run on his wheel, and should i take it out of his cage?

potassium hay
Posted on 2008/11/20 by Lindawe purchased about 300 ton of hay that has been tested and found to be very high in potassium. The feed store we deal with told us not to feed the hay to our bred cows, most of them due the end of Feb. through the end of March. Another feed outfit we buy our salts and minerals through told us that they could make up a mix to supplement the hay and that would make the hay okay to feed. Do you have any knowledge about hay with too much potassium?

I have an older nanny goat that has been sluggish for the past couple of days. She will eat, but only if you put the food right in front of her mouth and she isnt eating as much as she was. she will get up, but she isnt nearly as mobile as she used to be. also she has swelling on the top of her neck. We worm our goats regularly, but we thought maybe she got them somehow so we put some liquid ivermectin on her and gave her a dose of past wormer. That was about 18 hrs ago. no change as of yet. she also has white gums. What is wrong with her.
