i have a 12-14 week old male opossum who has almost spontaneously lost the strength and mobility of his rear end he can still move and grip with them yet doesnt he seems to just crawl on his stomach and back over his back legs when he does go forward he keeps his hands flat and stretched out his tail also seems to be more tense than usual and he seems to be more nervous than before his sister stays with him in the same cage yet is fine please help me

He won't eat

Sluggish and pussy eyed Gerbil PLEASE HELP
Posted on 2009/04/28 by UserI gave my gerbil (male, age unknown but had him for about 6 months) meal worms from the pet store (they were plenty for one gerbil so I gave some to my neighbor who has two hamsters) the next day he was sluggish and one eye had red puss coming out. He is very boney now after a full day has passed, he tries to eat but cant finish a morsel. He tries to do some common activities like running on a wheel but looses balance and falls out.(probably because the eye is shut) Mostly stands still after a while or walks somewhere rather than an energetic hop. Is this a cold?

I have just bought 4 Degu's. 1 is really small so obviously the runt. She is skinny, boney and her eyes keep weeping. It is still very active and eats and drinks. As I've only had them for two days, should I take this one back?

I had two mice. Luna 6 weeks old and Delia (who is still alive) 4 months old. I have had Delia since she was born and Luna I bought at 5 weeks, had her for a week and she died. She got very thin, had a hard time walking(kept stumbling) and when I picked her up I noticed poop just sticking out of her and it was stuck to her so I cleaned her off repeatidly, the last time I cleaned her off before she died, it was actually like a thick urine. Now a week later and Delia is showing the same signs but she has bloody poop sticking to her and she is not as tolerant so i cannot clean it off from her and i don't know if it's because it hurts. But I have no idea what's going on and...

hair loss and clumping
Posted on 2009/04/05 by UserMy tom cat hunts. A year ago came home with hair clumps that pull out. This in various parts of his body. Matted in various parts and when I brush, it leaves large bald patches. Also I notice a smell, sort of like deisel and he has a sore ear. This is now scabbed on outside and edges. Is it infection or just fights?

hi i have a male gerbil and today he does not seem himself he is not running around and he keeps tilting and loosing ballance not with it at all. he ate a pumpkin seed with my help but not really interested in other food. i have also noticed his poo has changed over the days it was light and runny now it is a bit firmer and very dark can you help me? thanks Kelly

Whats wrong with my Chinchillas eye?
Posted on 2009/02/07 by UserI have a chinchilla and i have had him for about one year almost. Bought him at petsmart. But there is something wrong with his eye. It was swollen and some stuff was coming out of it. SO i washed his eye and for about a week or so his eye looked alot better. But here recently it started to look worse. Most of the time he keeps his eye shut and when he comes to say hi to me its hardly ever open. Its very hard to find a vet in AUstin tx that can take care of chinchillas problems. So if anybody can please tell me whats wrong with him i would greatly appreciate it. I would hate for him to go blind in one eye.
