My hedgehog
Posted on 2009/08/06 by ErikaHi, I have a female hedgehog. This morning I took her out of her cage to play with her when I noticed that she has scabs on her face. She was also bleeding from her forehead and there seems to be a rash on it. Also, her front paws are swollen and one of them are bleeding and some of her claws are falling off. Should I see a vet with her, do you have any suggestion on how to treat her other than the vet

Chinchilla makes weird noses and shakes
Posted on 2009/06/29 by UserMy chinchilla keeps making this noise: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9zNeA_Diko He tends to wipe his nose/mouth area with his paw when he makes these noises. After a trip to the vet, he was Baytril and he has been on it for two days but still makes this noise. His appetite is good. He drinks fine. Has energy. The vet said his lungs are good and he gained 10 grams in weight. He doesn't have a crusted over nose. His eyes aren't watery. He poops fine. I've given him probiotics in between doses of Baytril so his appetite doesn't slip. Are these signs of respiratory infection/cold? IF it is, how long will it take for Baytril to start working and if it isn't, what...

Help - Baby Goat With Bloat
Posted on 2009/06/27 by UserWe have a 12 week old nubian goat that we have been treating for bloat for 5 days and there has been no change in his condition. We have seen several vets and they keep giving us mixed advice. The poor goat just lays down all day crying and we have tried sodium bicarbonate, mineral oil, cooking oil and massaging and nothing seems to be working. Is there anything else that we can try? He is still able to get up and walk, but he spends almost all day laying down.

Chinchillas
Posted on 2009/06/07 by UserMy chinchilla has dry, peeling, flaky skin on his ears, behind his ears, and on his head. I've kept the dust bath in his cage at all times but after some research I just took it out thinking that this might be causing the irritated skin. Is this serious and what can I do to treat it?
