• My old mare...

  Well, Pearl is coming 22 soon. I'm afraid she's going blind a tad, cause she sees stuff on the ground when were out riding that's not there. She doesn't want to get out and exercise, either. She has 2 blue eyes, and my Uncle's friend said that horses with blue eyes sometimes have a condition from the sun that hits them, makes them go blind in a way. What is it called, and can I help prevent it??

• I need a question answered about my horse!!

  Well, Talker's dam(mom) is foundered, and very obese. My farrier said/says that if I feed Talker anymore than 4 flakes (possibly 5 if for riding) & feed her daily grain without riding her, she can possibly founder since she is a Kiger Mustang and that breed usually doesn't live on much in the wild, thier body type(s) can't handle all the food. Is this true, and what should I do to keep her fit & healthy?? I plan on showing her in halter this year, and need supplements, what supplements should I use for her coat & muscle without her foundering. Thanks, ~Journey

  inherited 15 yr old rope horse that was pastured with 30 other horses...he's sorely under weight. What's the best feed program to bring him back properly without just making him fat

• 12 year old gelding

  NEED HELP ASAP My 12 year old gelding was fine in his stall yesterday evening. He broke the gate to his stall and escaped. Found him in the neighbors feild by the woods. His penis is swollen and has two tennis ball size knots that appear to be bloody. This is new. Checked on him this morning there has been no improvement. I have become very concerned. I have recently lost my job due to cut backs and cannot call out a vet. I would call one out in a min if i had money 2 do so he is worth everything to us. I have alot if Vet supplies availible to treat as my neighbor has a large farm and said I could have anything I need but he was not sure what to do either as he does not...

  My vet has diagnosed my horse with myositis...has a very sore back..he is now on Vitamin E with selenium and no riding for a couple months. My question, will he fully recover from this or will it be an ongoing issue with him now? He is a 12 yr old appy gelding, used for trail riding.Thanks...

• Equine COPD & Breeding

  I have a 15yr old mare "Dixie" whom I found out on Friday that has COPD or heaves. Right now she is having trouble getting the oxygen out of her lungs, has mucus in her nostrils and is coughing. We started her on 5cc a day of Ventipulmin and will be taking her completely off hay as soon as we can. I was thinking of breeding her when she starts feeling better but I want to know what the risks are to her. I don't want to hurt her at all so if its dangerous to breed her since she has COPD I won't. Help is appreciated. Also my vet did say that after we have it under control I could possibly breed, but he did not tell me what the risks were, thats why I am...

• Horse with swollen nostril and trouble breathing

  2 yr old Quarter Horse Gelding. When we saw him to buy he was fine. When we got him home he had a clear mucus. We got the vet to come out and give him antibotics. Which didnt really seem to help as it still came back off and on. We just had the vet come out about a week ago. His mucus has been changing colors such as a yellow or brown. He is updated on all shots. Now yesterday his right nostril is 2x the size of the other as being swollen. His breath is a horriable smell. He is not eatting as he normally would. His nostril is also closed up more than the other causing him to breath funny. I know ill have to be getting a vet out soon but i wanted to know if there is...
