Can any of the yearly shots given to horses cause lameness? My horse went lame after his shots this spring, recovered, and was mistakenly re-immunized. As soon as he was given the vaccines again he went lame. Is there any correlation?

my horses right eye is cloudy,I can only see it clouded at night. his left eye is not clouded, he costantly circles to the left. there are no visible swelling,squinting,bleeding ect no visible pain. he is alert he comes to me when I call him,can I get some info on this eye condition? he is a mustang 12 to 15 years of age,he is a rescue

Swelled Sheath on my 25 yr old gelding

He is recovering well from his injury. 2 days ago he started stocking up in his rear leg. I walked him to reduce the swelling. Yesterday his leg was huge, swelling all the way up his leg and his sheath is huge. He also has swelling on the underside of his belly, it is firm to the touch. I cleaned his sheath and found a large bean in his uretha area. I was not familiar with the bean until I did research and figured out what it was. Could all this swelling be due to the bean or is there more than likely something else going on? He did not have a fever as of last night. He is...

Horse with Labored Breathing
Posted on 2009/03/08 by UserWe have a 14 year old bay gelding, who has always seemed to have allergies (little coughing, runny nose on occasion. However, about Christmastime he started breathing with great labor, as if he'd been running. I started giving him Alerhist, hoping to open his breathing passages. Just yesterday I noticed, in addition to his labored breathing he has a hard lump at the base of his bronchial tube, in his chest. His chest may also be a bit swollen. We don't have resources to do a lot of testing or serious treatment, but I would like to know if this is something that might be treatable (without spending thousands, as the horse is only worth about $500.). My old mare...
Posted on 2009/02/18 by UserWell, Pearl is coming 22 soon. I'm afraid she's going blind a tad, cause she sees stuff on the ground when were out riding that's not there. She doesn't want to get out and exercise, either. She has 2 blue eyes, and my Uncle's friend said that horses with blue eyes sometimes have a condition from the sun that hits them, makes them go blind in a way. What is it called, and can I help prevent it??

Posted on 2009/02/18 by UserWell, Talker's dam(mom) is foundered, and very obese. My farrier said/says that if I feed Talker anymore than 4 flakes (possibly 5 if for riding) & feed her daily grain without riding her, she can possibly founder since she is a Kiger Mustang and that breed usually doesn't live on much in the wild, thier body type(s) can't handle all the food. Is this true, and what should I do to keep her fit & healthy?? I plan on showing her in halter this year, and need supplements, what supplements should I use for her coat & muscle without her foundering. Thanks, ~Journey
