  • White Line injury

My mare's shoe came off (partially) yesterday and the clip went into her white line. It's not too deep, but she's sore. How should I treat this injury?

  • Swollen sheath in horse

My question is about my horse, he is a gelding and his sheath swells up periodically, I have cleaned it but that is not the problem. It does not seem to cause him any pain but I would like to know what to do about it.

  • Horse

My horse has a patch of skin that fell off about 2 inches by 3 inches big. It is down to the muscle. What should I do. Can I put an antibacterial cream or ointment on it? Should I be worried? There was a small cut in the area where the skin fell off, (an injury from a few weeks ago.

  • pregnant mare

My 9 year old mare was exposed to a 3 year old colt from October 07 to February 08 when I found out that he was with her and demanded she be moved. She is now showing signs of being in foal (or so my friends say) She has a large belly that is very hard and she does not like me to poke at it.. About 2 months ago her milk glands in front of her udder started to swell but there is no heat in them. About 2 weeks ago I checked her for milk and got a clear liquid from her teats - I check her almost every day now to see if it turns a milky color (my friends said it will turn color before she foals. My question is could a 9 year old mare that has never been bred have these signs...

  • Back Pain

Rocket hurt his back somehow in Sept/Oct. His back is swollen and very tender along his lower lumbar area (right where the back of the saddle pad sits). Saddle fits fine. We have been to 2 chiropractors and 2 vets. Madalyn Ward (chiro) thought it is a displaced sacrum back when this first happened. With no improvement, I took him to Elgin Vet Hospital (one of the best in Texas) 4 weeks ago. They could not give me an exact diagnosis. Other than the soreness in the back, the only other thing we found is his front right suspensory and back left hock were sore (slight lameness). We injected the suspensory, both hocks and the back with some sort of steroids (I think that is...

  • Horses skin condition

My Horse has very dry skin. He is not losing any of it. His mane and tail is intact. I have bathed him with medicated shampoo in the past when it was warmer, but it did not improve his condition. I am unsure how to treat his severe dry skin.
