Hello, We have a very loved Dwarf hamster and we got it at a pet store over a year ago. I have seen about 3 seizures he has had and todays was the worst (he even bit his front paw and he's hurt). What can it be? He doesn't seem to have any lumps or anything unusual. I give him a balanced diet and keep all dont's away from him. He is by himself and is keept in a cage I clean once a week. Please help as I can't afford a vet right now.

My hamster fell in a tub and got completely submerged underwater. I picked him up but did'nt have enough time to grasp him before he fell underwater again. I placed him on a rag and he coughed some water up while some more came through his nose. I sucked as hard as I could and got out some more water. Is he going to be okay?

Posted on 2009/04/21 by UserIs it normal for a hamster to rub up against the cage bars? It only happens when I'm standing in front of her cage.

My Chinese Hamster has been acting very wierd. Over the past few days he has been very inactive. His testicles got really big overnight, the look red, around his tail looks kind of bloody, and he hides in a corner of the cage. I have a female hamster in their with him. They use to be very loving but not now. He acts as if he is terrified of me and her. Could she have hurt him?

Hamster scratching and balding
Posted on 2009/04/14 by UserMy hamster has been ferociously scratching for the past two weeks on her belly and her lower back. Her fur in these areas has started to fall out. I went to the pet shop and bought mite drops and tea tree cream (for hamsters) but the scratching continues. There is nothing else wrong, she still eats and drinks and likes running around in her ball every evening. What could be the problem?

Something wrong with my hamster
Posted on 2009/04/13 by UserMy hamster was fine just 20 hours ago. Now I noticed it was not in her normal sleeping place and was instead laying in another part of the cage. She seems to try to move every few minutes but does not seem to be able to get herself lifted up. Her head looks like it is bent to the right a bit and she has not lifted her head up. She appears to be breathing normal. The room temperature has not changed and she feels warm. She does like to jump off a platform in the cage or climb the sides and jump off but it is only a 2-3 inch drop. I do not want to pick her up or move her with fear that I may hurt her worse. It is painful to just leave her laying there and not be...

Posted on 2009/04/12 by UserMy hamster was pooping blood with his poop yesterday. His anus seems red and sore. Otherwise he does not look like he is in pain. He doesn't hunch over. He doesn't really show signs of constipation. Is there anything wrong with him?
