dwarf hamsters and seizures--or dreaming??
Posted on 2008/12/14 by UserMy hamster seems to be dreaming in her sleep-unaware of being picked up. makes squeaking sounds. Once she wakes, she seems fine. She was bleeding for a couple of wks but her medicine seems to have stopped that. She's still eating and drinking. I almost had her euthanized because the vet thot she might have uterine cancer. As long as she seems ok, I'd rather not do that but I hate the thot of her being in pain. It looks just like what my dog does when she's sleeping and "dreaming"

Hamster abscess
Posted on 2008/04/09 by UserHi, my name is Kristin and i have a pet hamster. I realized just yesterday a huge bulge on her shoulder. I looked up things on the internet and it is an abscess. My family cannot afford to go to a vet clinic right now and I called local vet clinics to find out the cost ($47). I may seem little amount of money but my family is going through a bad time right now money wise. I wnat to know is there anything i can do? Could i drain the abscess myself?

my hamster that we have had for over a year has become very inactive over the last few hours. He will not open his eyes and his genital area has swollen greatly. What do you think?

irritated eye area
Posted on 2008/02/22 by UserTheo is about 2 months old and has a very sore looking left eye. Right eye is normal, but area around left eye looks swollen and irritated. He might have been scratched by a cage-mate. Should I treat this? How?

hair loss in hamster
Posted on 2008/09/16 by UserHi! We bought a dwarf hamster about a month ago. At the time he had a small bald spot on his back just a bit smaller than a dime. We kept this hamster for about 2 1/2 weeks and during that time he lost quite a bit more hair. The hair loss was kind of in stripes across his back and he was scratching some. The skin was dry and a little bumpy too. There was a few spots that looked scabby like he bled from the scratching. We took him back to the pet store and they inspected him for mites, but did not see any and had never seen hair loss like his. They thought it may be allergies to the bedding, but he lived with non-allergic paper bedding before we got him and had already...
