Guinea Pigs

  • Losing hair

My guinea pig has recently starting losing some of his hair on both sides of his tummy. He also has little scratches and his skin looks dried out. We have a cat so did he hurt him? Should he be checked out by a vet?

  • Female guinea pig in pain

Ellie has 4 babies with her and their almost 3 weeks old now, they are still taking milk but each time they do, she screams out in pain, her teats are swollen and a greeny color liquid is coming out, i think they are definatly infected, i rang my vet and they said that she will need antibiotics and a couple of injections, but i cant really afford taking her to the vet. So i tried cleaning it with salt water. I also seperated her from 3 of the baby boys and put her with the baby girl. The father of the babies is with the boys, he seems to be ok with them and the babies are still eating vegetables. what else can i do to stop it getting worse?

  • Bulging Eye

My guinea pig's right eye has recently started to 'pop out'/bulge from her head. The eyes look otherwise normal. I am wondering what this could be from and if there are any treatments? Guinea pigs behaviour is otherwise fine- drinking, eating, playing, and she seems comfortable. Her drinking/urination has always been slightly larger than other guinea pigs I have owned, so I am wondering if it could be a thyroid problem?

  • Pregnant guinea pig

Ellie has been pregnant for a long time, im not sure when she got pregnant but im concerned because she is really big, ive bred guinea pigs before and usually know when the babies are due because of the mothers size but Ellie is really big and her babies are kicking hard, i have waiting for about 3 weeks now thinking that she will give birth but they still havnt come. do you think that she should be taken to the vet? by the way, she has had babies before, so this isnt the first time she has been pregnant.
