RABIES CONCERN!!! PLEASE HRRY WITH AN...
Posted on 2009/07/02 by DonnaRABIES CONCERN! My 8 yr old lab, DuPri, got into a scuffle with a possum last Thursday night. I could not find any cuts, scratches or punctures on him, however, due to the fact that it is a wild animal, I took him to a neighborhood vet, as our regular vet was closed. I am very concerned as his rabies booster shot was due in April but somehow I didn't realize it. He did not kill the possum, in fact, it "played possum" for about 30 mi nutes then walked away just fine. The vet I took him to gave him his booster shot and told me to watch him for any different or unusual behavior. I followed up with his regular vet on Saturday morning and they were quite upset....

family dogs have killed three of our sheep
Posted on 2009/06/09 by UserBoth males from same litter, both neutered. We have 1 acre with chickens, ducks and sheep (sheep are tethered in the garden to eat the grass). Dogs have always been good with our 3 kids (14yrs, 10yrs, 6yrs,) come back when called. They bark and guard the house when guests arrive ay house, people are weary of them but they have never harmed. However, since we all hand reared a rejected lamb - to which the dogs were friendly with and cuddled up to - When eldest son was home alone they ripped the lamb to shreds. My son was very harsh on them, but the next day we forgave them and made sure they were tethered when we were not around ( which they are used to). 5 days later...

Lymphoma or Lymes disease?
Posted on 2009/05/25 by UserMy dog is now being tested for limphoma, have to wait a week for results. He has been ill for the odd 2-3 days over the last few months, nausious but not sick, fever, limp on front right leg, each time he has been given a 1 week course of antibiotics & anti inflammatories, then he is ok for 4-6 weeks then same symptoms, he had scans for tumours & blood tests, came back negative so vet gave him a 2 week course on that visit, same symptoms the other day so booked him in, he was getting better but I took him anyway, vet said his lymph glands are up this time so that is different, she said only 1 dog that she has seen with swollen lymph glands did not have cancer....

Potty Time
Posted on 2009/05/19 by JohnTruman gets hyper, barks, goes to the door, wines etc. All signs that nature is calling. We go out 20 minutes later he still doesn't go. How long should I give him? For every time he goes there's five false alarms. Frustrating.
