lethargic dog
Posted on 2009/04/11 by UserWe adopted a chihuahua mix 5 months ago (Doc). He is 7 months old. we adopted a poodle mix about 2 weeks ago (Ted). He is 4 months old. I took them to the vet 4 days ago and they were diagnosed with kennel cough. Doc had a kennel cough vaccine in January and does not cough as much as Ted. Even Ted usually only coughs at night. They are both on antibiotics. Doc has increasingly become lethargic since Ted joined our family. Now, Doc has vomitted about once or twice a day for 4 days. (Yellow frothy). He doesn't eat much and is extremely lethargic. Any ideas what is going on? Ted sleeps ALOT, but plays more than Doc also.

Vomiting from Amoxicillin
Posted on 2009/04/11 by UserMy 2 year old yellow lab tore off a nail and is being treated with antibiotics for mild infection. She is 85lbs and takes 1000mg of amoxicillin twice a day. For the past two days she has vomited her food back up hours after eating it. I assume it is due to the drugs. Can I cut back her dosage to something she can handle, until I can see my Vet on Monday?

My dog's behavorial problems
Posted on 2009/04/10 by UserMax has many behavioral problems that I am having trouble fixing and I would like some help on how I can in the easiest way possible. He barks when a person or dog walks by the house and can't stop barking until they have left his sight. He is also kind of aggressive with his toys and growls when you try to take them (he doesn't bark just growl). He does not like meeting other people and especially meeting dogs. I hardly take him on walks anymore because the last couple times dogs have come up to us and he tried to bite them. Except when a female dog came up he just stood there. I am very scared that he could hurt another dog or human. Another problem is that we can...

dog poisoning
Posted on 2009/04/03 by UserApproximately a month ago our dog was poisoned; sadly she did not live very long after arriving at the vet’s office. There was no blood work done so we do not know what she was poisoned with. We do believe we know who did it but would like to know what she was poisoned with. She was a mutt weighing 40lbs and 7 years old at the time. Her symptoms were: foul odor, bleeding from her female parts, she was trying to vomit but couldn’t, she would not move, on the way to the vet’s, she would stiffen up and shake, then relax and whine. The vet said her gums were hemorrhaging and scarring. Whatever it was caused her kidneys to fail as well and that is what killed her. Is...

Dog care / advice.
Posted on 2009/04/01 by UserWe have a 18month old rough Collie. He constantly howls and barks when he is out in the garden. Even more so if the neighbours are out. It has got to the poin where our long sufferring neighbours have started to complain. He unfortunatly is left locked in our kitchen from 8.30am after his walk till 5pm when we both get home from work. If we are doing him harm we would appreciated you being as blunt and honest with us as possible as we dont want him to suffer if he already is. We are at our witts end and dont really want him to leave our family. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in desperation. Mr Chris Walsh

Dog recently started scratching
Posted on 2009/03/28 by BillRecently, our 12 yr. old yellow lab, Fern, has started licking and scratching herself. Feet, belly and legs are all targets. No sign of fleas. Sometimes wakes us at night with the thumping. She eats IAMS dog food, and we recently started adding a teaspoon of safflower oil to her food for possible dry skin. Any ideas? Thanks!
