My cat has recently started dragging her water dish across the kitchen tile, and will often try to drag it over the small ledge at the doorway to tip it over. She does this even when I have just washed and put fresh water in her dish. She also has recently taking a liking to me putting ice cubes in her water. That is fine but the dragging is driving me crazy as she does it all hours of the night & day. Why is she doing this?

Thank you for your reply. Barney was at the vets when I last wrote. Unfortunately he had a feline virus that is fatal and had to be euthanized.

Sneezing kittens
Posted on 2008/09/10 by UserWe got two 10 week old kittens from a local cat shelter (cats only) last Tuesday (9/2). Two nights ago, they started sneezing a few times an hour or so. I have not noticed any discharge from their noses, but from their breathing it does sound like they have a stuffy nose. We keep them indoors all of the time and they are otherwise happy, playing, eating, sleeping, purring, etc. I am on the lookout for any abnormal behavior (lethargy, lack of appetite) but have not noticed any yet. I read through a couple other similar situations, could this be Cat Flu or allergies? If so, how long should I wait before consulting a vet? Could this go away on its own? Could it be...

Scratching and lossing hair
Posted on 2008/09/10 by SarahMy 5 month old kitten as a microchip implanted between her shoulders. I noticed today she's been scratching a licking at that same spot and now the hair right there is gone. Could her microchip be bothering her? And if so, what should I do?!

Cat will not eat...vet doesn't know why...
Posted on 2008/09/08 by SherryWhen I adopted my 12 year old cat, he was obese. He has lost 4.5 lbs, and refuses to eat. There have been several changes in his life in the past six months: new owner and home, packing and moving to another new home. The vet that I took him to found a lump on his thyroid, but can not seem to find a reason why the cat will not eat. Any suggestions?

My cat won't eat...please HELP
Posted on 2008/09/07 by UserMy 4 month old male cat was altered on Sept. 3rd, received his rabies vaccine, FeLV and FVRCP vaccines. He has had a loss of appetite since Friday Morning (Sept. 5th). He has had diarrhea, and vomitting. He refuses to eat. He has been drinking water. I took him to the vet on Friday afternoon (Sept. 5th) and he didn't have a fever and his vitals were normal. They sent him home with a liquid antibiotic, however I wasn't able to get him to take it. He got very upset and started foaming at the mouth. He spit all of the medicine out. I haven't tried to administer it since. Do you have any ideas of what could be going on? Should I seek emergency medical attention...

Hello, we have a 4 month old kitten that has lumps under her skin on her chest to her stomach. She has 5 in total of various size. They are smooth and round and do not hurt her in any way. Our vet has felt them and told us that sometimes pets have these lumps before they get spade, but once they get spade they often disappear. Is this true or should we get them removed beforehand. If you could offer me a second opinion, it would be greatly appreciated. My email address is jtg@ees-financial.com. Thank you.

Allergies and/or hair loss
Posted on 2008/09/04 by FetherEvery year about this time (early fall) my cat and dog both get really itchy and start to lose their fur. I mentioned it to my vet last year and she said it's not fleas but some sort of allergic reaction. I was unsuccessful in the medication she subscribed, they stopped itching several weeks later and hair grew back a few months later. Any suggestions on an over the counter medication?

Diarrhea, High Temperature, etc
Posted on 2008/09/01 by ElliotFor the last 2 days my cat has had very runny movements, and today seems to have a high temperature, slightly irregular breathing, and is occasionally vomiting up a frothy white liquid. Does this sound like just a sick cat who just needs a day or two to get better, or does it sound more serious? She does not appear to be in excruciating pain or anything, but she is less active than usual, although not to an extreme degree. We just brought a new kitten into the house, could this just be stress?
