Hello, our cat had renal failure last August, we took "Teddy" to a animal hospital and they gave him tests and lactate ringers solution to get rehydrated. All the levels came back to just about normal. This past week, my wife noticed Teddy getting dehydrated again so she took him to the vet and they gave him more fluid and additional blood work. When she brought him home, Teddy was very alert and active. Now, he has not eaten for the last few days as we continue to give him the ringers fluid. The vet put potassium fluid in the bag for preventative reasons due to a low/normal range of 3.7. We have given him 2.5 mgs of pepsid twice a day, but still no appetite....

High Eosinophil count
Posted on 2009/01/31 by KristyHi, my cat has a high WBC, Eosinophil of 2040, Other blood work generally normal (as of 3 months ago). Vet thinks it's flea related so started revolution, although I have never seen fleas or flea dirt on any of my cats ever. History: DLH, about 9 yrs old, 9 lbs, came as a stray 4 yrs ago, neutered and with broken canine tooth. (currently in need of dental). Outdoors about 6 hrs a day. (Sometimes paces and vomits if he has to stay inside). For about 2 yrs, scratching, chewing, mostly licking fur. Fur has thinned out alot, only balding around neck. (from collar?) Has some scabs around body, head and neck can feel under fur. Has always had one clear runny eye. Fecal,...

Urinary problem
Posted on 2009/01/30 by MandyHello.... My cat bled quite a lot yesterday when trying to urinate. I took him to the vet, who examined his tummy and his bottom and told me there was no blockage and it seems to be an infection. He gave him an injection and a course of Metacam & Clavaseptin. SInce he's been home he keeps trying to urinate and nothing is happening. He's pacing around and doesn't pay much attention to anything else. I'm concerned about him and scared to go to sleep leaving him suffering. Anything I can do?

New cat has increased water intake and diarrhea
Posted on 2009/01/26 by UserWe adopted a cat 3 days ago. He was a rescue because we was bitten by a dog, but his stitches are out and the wounds are healed. He has diarrhea and increased food and water consumption. And has been spending a lot of time in the litter box. Any suggestions?

Discharge from eyes in kittens
Posted on 2009/01/16 by UserWe have two kittens adopted from animal shelter 3 weeks ago - 12 and 14 weeks old now. They have seen the vet and been through a dose of Clavamox and then Gentamicin Sulfate for water eyes (and sometimes yellowish colored.) They don't water or have yellow discharge every day. One of the cat's was sneezing every so often and we were told to use the Gent. Sulfate as a nose drop on her (along with in her eyes.) What's the next step? Appetite is great, using the litter box fine, no diahrea, very playful. Thank you.

Is my cat suffering?
Posted on 2009/01/10 by MaryI have a cat that is about 13. For several months now he has been going down hill. First it started with him losing a lot of weight. He had a little bit of diarrhea The vet did blood work and everything looked fine but tried an antibiotic and anti parasite drugs. That didn't work and so the vet tried a steroid. Still no results and now the diarrhea is worse and he is no longer making it to the litter box. I cannot afford ultra sound and i feel badly but i can see my cat suffering and he no longer cleans him self and I love him but he smells badly and I wont let him sleep with me anymore in my bed. I feel guilty but I am also frustrated having to clean up his loose...

Cat's Claw
Posted on 2009/01/06 by UserHello! About 3 weeks ago my cat had a broken claw in her front paw ( thumb one). I took her to the vet and they took out the whole claw (under anesthesia). They gave me a bottle of antibiotic (ClindaCure) to be administered once for the next 10 days and charged me $125. Three weeks has passed by and my cat's thumb looks swollen and she almost cant use her paw to walk. Is this normal after this procedure? How much time it would take for her to recuperate from this "surgery"... I cannot spend another $125!! Please help!

My cat's odd behaviour
Posted on 2009/01/01 by UserMy cat has recently started rolling around the floor alot and arches her body when you touch her so that her rear end sticks up but the rest of her stays low to the ground. She will also drag herself along the floor with her front paws. There is nothing wrong with her legs as she runs around just fine when she wants to and she seems to be in no other pain. Why could she be doing this?
