I brought a battery hen home 6 weeks ago. She got picked on by the others and started limping 1-2 weeks ago(possibly done when coming down the ramp). There are no visible signs and I'm now letting her have some time outside so she has some peace & quiet. It's been a week or 2 and she has not improved, in fact she's hopping even more now. Any advice on how I can get her better? She also has diarhea but that may be from foraging around outside. She eats & lays (I think) & seems happy enough.

19 yr old Cockatiel with Arthritis...
Posted on 2009/06/14 by UserMy cockatiel is 19 yrs old and his old age has caused him to rest/sleep in an awkward position. He still sleeps on his perch but he places all his weight against the cage bars for balance and possibly relief from his talons. I worry that its uncomfortable for him to sleep against the bars like that. Is there some alternative that will better accomodate his sleep?

hello i have a kakariki parakeet with a very sore swollen eye. the vet says she has an ulcer probabably caused by her getting something in it then rubbing it. She sits with the eye tightly shut and swollen and rubs it continualy on the cage, perch or with her claw. the vet gave us painkilling anti-inflamatory drops (i drop daily) and fucithalmic eye ointment (twice daily). after 4 days there eas no improvemnet. not surprising because of the continually rubbing, so i took her back to the vet and asked if they could do anything to stop the rubbing (a collar, anything). i was just given another painkiller to add (morphine based) 24hrs later and still no improvement. she is...
