  • Cockatiel problems

I have a 1 year old female cockatiel who recently laid an egg this morning. She has no nest in her cage and no male birds withe her. We took the egg out of the cage, should we have left it there? She has become more aggressive and possesive. What should i expect? When will she return to normal? Thanks

  • Diarrhea in Six week old kitten

I adopted a six week old kitten from a shelter two days ago. He weighs 1.5 pounds. When I took him home they told me he had diarrhea and gave me two 25 cc's worth of Albon. I finished the supply today and he seems to now be constipated; he didn't have diarrhea like he did when we first brought him home but now he is not going much at all and when he does go it is still runny. What worries me most is that his bottom is red and seems irritated, he is sitting awkwardly and seems uncomfortable. I have a feeling that this is just him adjusting to new food, and still dealing with the stress of being in a shelter and then moving to a home; but I am not sure if it requires...

  • My 2year old love bird got into my aromatherapy oil. I washed him off immediately, however he must have digested some of it because he keeps throwing up. I took him to the pet emergency and they gave him antibiotics metacame.025 mg, a nausa medicine baytril .1mg and some electrolytes. I didn't have the $1000 to leave him there for them to put him on oxygen. I wish I did! I brought him home and he hasn't made a sound. He's seems very weak, he sneezes and he jerks alot...still throwing up occasionally. I gave him another bath like they told me to do around 7:30pm with Dove and water, because the smell of the oil is still on him. I left him at 8pm and came back at 12am. He...

  • My cat brought me a fledgling woodpecker who has a large swelling around his right eye about 1cm in diameter. His right eye is red, I think he's bleeding into his eye. There are no wildlife vets in my area. What can I do for him?

  • baby bunnies

What do we do with 5 baby bunnies that we saved from our backyard? We gathered the fur that was in the nest but we had to move them because we have two big dogs. What do we feed them? Will they survive the night? Will the mom come back to them?

  • Grieving Cockatiel

My male cockatiel Puccini has very sadly lost his male companion in the last 5 days. They had been together for over 15 years. Puccini just flies round the house screaming, especially when I arrive home as he believes I am returning him. I find it very heartbreaking as I have loved my birds very much. I do have 2 other cockatiels who keep each other company and have done so since 1993, but Puccini has only ever tolerated them in the same room, but never too close. Would buying another cockatiel be the answer or will he settle down. He is also not eating as well due to agitation etc

  • cockatiel baldness

My white/yellow female cockatiel is going bald behind her neck. I wormed her and am giving vitamins, which helped and the feathers grew back. But now it has happened again and I also suspect that her mate is pulling even more feathers out as a bit of fun flirting. What should I do? She lays eggs.
