Our new parakeet bird
Posted on 2007/12/28 by KaliWe just got our bird today, part of my daughters chrismas present. She/He is beautiful, very young and white. I didn't go with her and her gramma to choose the bird so I have no idea how old it is or if it's male or female. My main question is, will she/he remain white, change with age or is there any way to know for sure? Something else I wonder is, I know they are social, like to be around the family and stuff but do they need to be covered up at night?

cat in dryer
Posted on 2008/01/31 by Usermy cat was in the dryer for about 5 min. we put alchohol on her ear tips and pads. She seems to be okay physically but wants to go outside. I am reluctant to let her out yet. Am I right? and also should i be looking for anything in particular now that the immediate crisis is over.

Limping - left paw
Posted on 2008/02/04 by deborahHeidi had jumped off our patio a week ago and began limping - I have crated her and have given her aspirin - could it in any way be dislocated - when I let her out of the crate she runs around and then when she begins to walk she will limp - can her legg be dislocated and still run around and chase things outside or is it just a sprain?

i have 2 puppies who seem to both have a lump on one side of there jaw, i would say its their glands, however they were seen by a vet 2 wks ago and this lump was not present. also their mother is losing all her fur, she as not nursed the pups for the last 3-4 wks. do you have any suggestions on what could be wrong. All pups and mom are full of live and showing no sign of pain eating and drinking fine too. i dont understand it

cats for immunospressed children
Posted on 2008/04/11 by UserI have heard that cats can be dangerous for those with suppressed immune systems. I have a child who takes steroids on a daily basis. Since this would classify my child as having a suppressed immune system, I was wondering if owning a cat is not worth the risk. We have a small dog and never had a problem, but we would like to have a cat as well. For every article that states that owning a cat can be potentially dangerous, I have read articles that state that having an indoor cat only requires proper precautions, such as the child never cleaning the litter box. What do you think, is owning a cat too risky??? Thanks! Eddie
