We recently moved to a new house and my dog is now peeing and pooping in the front room when we have a doggy door. She knows how to use one because my parents have one in their house for their dog. She does it when we aren't home or are asleep. I don't know what to do about it.

peeing in the house w/ a doggy door installed

Our 6 year old dog has recently started peeing and pooping in the floor. Last night we took him out and withing 10 minutes of being inside he pooped in the floor. Some people think this an attention thing. I have recently moved in with him and his owner, although I have been around him for almost 2 years and have spent lots of time there. Is this an attention thing or maybe just a bladder problem?

My 8 month old neutered male chihuahua urines whenever we go to pick him up or when we tell him no. Is there something medically wrong that could be causing this? He never use to do this. When we go to pick him up, he starts urinating on himself before we even touch him.

Australian cattle dog in an apartment?
Posted on 2008/09/04 by AmyI recently went to the animal shelter and adopted a female Australian cattle dog. She’s very sweet and seems really passive, but it’s hard to tell what her behavior will be like until I get her home (she is being spayed today and I will pick her up this afternoon). I’ve read a lot of things online about ACD’s and all of them say they are a very high energy dog that needs open space (not suited for apartments). I live in an apartment and I’m really worried that things won’t work out and I’ll have to take her back to the shelter. The tech at the shelter seemed to think that she wouldn’t have trouble with apartment life, but I still worry that it won’t...

inappropriate urinating and defecating
Posted on 2008/09/08 by SueOur sweet little cat has developed a very un-sweet habit. He has started to urinate and defecate in one area of our living room. We had an older cat in the house a few years ago and he did the same thing is this spot--I thought that I had eliminated the odor but apparently not. I have literally tried everything I can think of: store-bought enzyme sprays, hydrogen-peroxide and dish detergent, vinegar, Oxy-Deep, pulling out and washing the carpet pad, shellacking the wood, aluminum foil, all to no avail. He performs these behaviors right in front of us, and it is not an area I can easily close off. I am afraid that I may be at the negative reinforcement stage. Is there...

aggressive behavior
Posted on 2008/01/29 by DerekHello. Our dog, Pete seems to be getting a bit aggressive (occasionally) toward our other male dog, Bear. Bear is 4 years old and both have been neutered. They have been together for 3.5 years along with our 2 females. Quite a pack! Pete had TPLO surgery 05/07 and has been on Cosequin, but is now on Deravox.Pete has also had some fatty tissue tumors dianosed lately.Just grumpiness or could there be a deeper problem? Thank you so much!

Compulsive scratching
Posted on 2008/01/31 by shepShe is scratching over and over on newspapers (shredding then into strips) and bed cover. She has always done this ocassionally, but now she seems to be doing it every hour or so. Also, she seems to be urinating just a little on the shredded paper. She is also using the litter box, which I clean 2X/day. Do I need to take her to a vet?
