I have an 8 yrs old male yorkie who has not eaten for atleast 2 days and I have to carry him over to the water and make him drink. He is also having problems walking with his back legs. What does this sound like? Do you think he is renal failure?

Do spayed cats give off a scent?
Posted on 2008/02/01 by VickiSable has been spayed, but the male cats in the neighborhood still come around as if she is in heat and she still rolls around and can be very vocal, like she did when she was in heat. Is this normal? Do cats that have been spayed still give off a scent even tho they have been spayed?

My lab mix dog was running and skidded on the hard wood floor last night. Her front nail (where you think the thumb was: the one on the inside) got smashed. I touched it and she yelped. I was able to get a good look and it is definitely bent. She is constantly licking it, but she seems to be walking just fine. Should I take her to the vet, or does it just have to heal on its own?

URI?Asthma? WHAT???
Posted on 2008/02/04 by TSassy...Siamese/female/age 7...occasionally breathes noisely...not exactly wheezing; sounds almost like she's snoring??? She doesn't seem to have trouble breathing, I just HEAR her. I notice this when she's sitting quietly on my lap/dozing/content. She's always purred very quietly. She's had FLV vaccine {but is now due] almost everytime she's had Rabies/Distemper shots. Several months ago she had cold-like symptoms which lasted about 3 days, the she was fine. Could her breathing problems be URI? Allergies? Asthma? or IS this a breathing problem??? She seems fine...still plays/acts like a kitten in many ways...so what's up??? She is VERY important to us!!!

Approx. 3-5 times a month my dog gets sick in the early morning 3-6am. He has no other issues. Energy is good, acts normal, poop is normal. He wants to eat on his schedule even after getting sick. He only eats dog food, no people food. His vomit is usually clear stomach fluid. I don't see him eat any plants or other garbage. He is not sick any other time in the day. Any thoughts???

coughing and vomiting
Posted on 2008/02/04 by DannaMy cat has been having coughing episodes now for about a month or so. He starts with labored breathing then he vomits sometimes. He is still eating, drinking and using the liter box. His attitude hasnt changed. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

urine infection
Posted on 2008/02/04 by Usermy dog is 17 yrs old and he is not eating or drinking alot he is also very sleepy and his urine is terrable smelly and very dark. he knows when we are there and just about makes it outside what do you think this is, is he shutting down or is it a really bad urine infection please help??

Getting skinny
Posted on 2008/02/14 by UserMy five year old rottweiler mix has lost ten to fifteen pounds and his ribs are starting to show alittle, his normal weight is around eighty five pounds. His appetite is great and he is getting about three to four cups of food a day,plus table scraps from my three year old. He is relativly active and shows no signs of slowing down. his demeamor is the same, but he seems to drinking more water. He also has not had a heartworm pill since Dec., becauase we live in a cold weather area. I would just bring him to my vet, but I lost my job recently and can't afford to bring him in if there is nothing wrong or if it can be treated by me. My familiy and I love him very much...
