foul odor with cough
Posted on 2009/01/07 by donnaMy old Pomeranian has history of stroke, kidney problems. He has suffered with a cough for about two years and has been treated conservatively with antibiotics. It gets somewhat better. Lately, he has been coughing and having a horrible smell like feces and I noticed sometimes he coughs up brown liquid. I noticed spots in front of his bed on the floor. He has such a foul odor coming from his mouth it is unbearable. What could this be? Last year my vet felt he did not have much longer, but bounced back with the antibiotics. He is eating and going out to the bathroom. He does not seem in distress.

Rat starvation and death
Posted on 2009/01/08 by EricaI found my pet rat dead this morning...She had plenty of water. But I feel terrible because I wasn't feeding her as regularly as I should have. We ran out of the pet store food and I was giving her about half a carrot (the big kind not the baby kind) every three or so days. Did she die because of me, was the carrots not food enough or did she get malnourished? She had stopped drinking her water. that might indicate she was getting sick. But if I starved her I will just die. Or was it just old age...the rat is 3-4 years old. People are now telling me this was starvation or at least malnourishment. Maybe she didn't have a perfectly balanced diet, but did I REALLY starve...
