are puppies able to contract parvo before their 1st check up with the vet? If so, what symptoms should I look for?

Hi We were considering adopting this 3 legged dog. He is missing one of his front legs. His body type is long with a a short front leg (like a corgie body type). So all of his weight seems to rest on this one front leg. We were worried about long term health problems from this (back problems, arthritis, muscle issues etc) which would mean costly vet bills. We can't affort this so would be doing this guy a disservice if this were the case. Would this be true or would his body just adapt with limted future health problems associated with this? Thanks alot for your help! Brad and Jen

Posted on 2008/02/15 by KavulakI have had this puppy for 2 weeks now and lately I am finding him after he goes poop he has got his rear on the carpet and is scooting. Is he lacking something in his diet or has he not adjusted to his new puppy food yet? I am feedin IAMS puppy food.

i think my dog is dying
Posted on 2008/02/20 by rebeccai think my friends dog is dying. its lost most of its hair and the first layer of its skin in a lot of places. hes covered in scabs and raw skin. hes really sick and doesnt want to eat and hes just laying there and even when he puts his head up he keeps his eyes closed. hes in a lot of pain. and he starts heaving and breathing heavy and i think its death rattles. what can we do? its the middle of the night and we cant even go to a pet hospital because they require a $500 deposit and we dont have it. what can i do?

Flea problems
Posted on 2008/02/20 by EmilySally came home on Sunday covered in fleas. We got some over the counter flea drops for everyone. They aren't working and I was wondering if I got Frontline/Advantage, if I could apply it on top of the medicine that I applied on Sunday. Todd is having a reaction to the medicine I applied. I tried cleaning the chemicals off with a wash rag and soap, which seems to have helped a litte, but the area is red and irritated looking and it looks like he is loosing some fur. He also has fleas now and i am wondering what i can do for him. Can i apply advantage to his irritated skin? Sally is doing great, her fleas are almost gone...I've been using baby shapmoo and leaving...
