cats for immunospressed children
Posted on 2008/04/11 by UserI have heard that cats can be dangerous for those with suppressed immune systems. I have a child who takes steroids on a daily basis. Since this would classify my child as having a suppressed immune system, I was wondering if owning a cat is not worth the risk. We have a small dog and never had a problem, but we would like to have a cat as well. For every article that states that owning a cat can be potentially dangerous, I have read articles that state that having an indoor cat only requires proper precautions, such as the child never cleaning the litter box. What do you think, is owning a cat too risky??? Thanks! Eddie

Pom urinates when excited
Posted on 2008/04/17 by UserMy male pomeranian 10 month old puppy is well trained. But everytime I come home he is so excited to see me he loses it and urinates. If I reprimand him, of course he urinates some more. Poor dog. Any ideas on how to stop this? (He got neutered 3 weeks ago, but this happened before and after the operation). Thanks, Charlie Okinawa, Japan

Can cats have panic attacks?
Posted on 2008/05/08 by UserTwo days ago my I noticed my cat had a little discharge (white colored) coming out of his left eye. It didn't really look like a big deal until I noticed it was there the second day. Then I got worried. His behavior is normal, although he has been a little more needy lately, but other than that he seems fine. His eye doesn't look infected, but he does shut it slightly every now and then, mainly at night or in the morning. I didn't want to take any chances so I tied to take him to the vet today. But on the way there he started freaking out and panting like a dog. I tried to comfort him by talking to him and petting him, hoping that would kind of calm him down, but his...
