My dog swallowed an SOS pad and I want to know what to do. Should I induce vomiting or wait for her to pass it. This just happened within the hour. It is 9:00am on Saturday February 16th.

Loose stools
Posted on 2008/02/18 by SueMy 9 month old boxer has had loose stools with blood. I have brought in a stool sample and there is no parasites. He was on rice and boiled hamb. with no firming results. It has been 2 weeks now what can I give him to stop the runny stools? He is still very active and wants to continually eat. He will only eat ice cubes or snow and will only drink water if I put a small amount chicken broth in it. He has not lost any weight and urinates OK.

He has been vomiting once or sometimes twice a week for a few months. (Before this his vomiting was very infrequent--considered normal.) Usually, the vomit is pure, barely digested food. Sometimes, though, it is liquidy-yellow. One time I think it had a green tint. He began a new food approx. 6 mos. ago--Science Diet Lite, after his vet suggested that he was a bit overweight. (I'm not sure if he has lost any weight. Maybe he is a little thinner.) Before this he was eating Innova all-natural food for many years. I am wondering if he is eating too much of the Science Diet, trying to fill up (since it is lite), hence throwing up. I'm just not sure about the liquidy...

Anal Saculitis
Posted on 2008/02/25 by LindellMy dog has been treated for anal saculitis for the past six weeks, seven days on Simplicef 100mg, but she continued to try licking her anal area and sometimes there was blood in the anal discharge. I took her to another vet who prescribed Ziniquin for seven days. Still the iritation persisted. The vet expressed the sac again, after that seven day regimen, the vet saw her again, expressed the sac and it still was copious and bloody. The vet now has her on a 3-week dosing of Ziniquin. The vet says if there is no improvement, then surgical removal might be considered. What do you think of this treatment? Is such a surgery safe if done by an surgeon experienced with...

can dogs catch a cold from a human?

Our 7 year old mix breed dog has been coughing since November. We've had him on prednisone and 2 different kinds of antibiotics with no luck in clearing it up. He did seem to be getting over it when we were coming back home from Indiana from the holidays. Took him into the vet yesterday and they did blood work on him which showed he had a very high white blood cell count. They did more x-rays and he's got some blurry white areas around his lungs. Left side is worse than the right. Nothing was wrong with his stomach. His x-rays have changed since the first set was ran. They did say his liver was a little large mostly due to the prednisone. They have no idea what...
