  • cat

I have a Tabby/Ragdoll mix between 12-15 y/o. He has always been a large cat .. roughly 25 pounds. Within the past 4-6 months he has lost a dramatic amount of weight. He is literally skin and bone (you can feel his spine, hips, and breast bone. He is still very active but begs to eat constantly. Despite the constant eating he has become so incredibly thin. I haven't taken him to the vet due to the fact that I have been out of work for over a year and therefore the money is not there so I don't know what to do. Is there any advice you can give me? I have checked head tilt but he has always done that which is how he got his name...Tippy. I have noticed some increase in...

  • Dog recently started scratching

Recently, our 12 yr. old yellow lab, Fern, has started licking and scratching herself. Feet, belly and legs are all targets. No sign of fleas. Sometimes wakes us at night with the thumping. She eats IAMS dog food, and we recently started adding a teaspoon of safflower oil to her food for possible dry skin. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • Vomiting from Amoxicillin

My 2 year old yellow lab tore off a nail and is being treated with antibiotics for mild infection. She is 85lbs and takes 1000mg of amoxicillin twice a day. For the past two days she has vomited her food back up hours after eating it. I assume it is due to the drugs. Can I cut back her dosage to something she can handle, until I can see my Vet on Monday?

  • lethargic dog

We adopted a chihuahua mix 5 months ago (Doc). He is 7 months old. we adopted a poodle mix about 2 weeks ago (Ted). He is 4 months old. I took them to the vet 4 days ago and they were diagnosed with kennel cough. Doc had a kennel cough vaccine in January and does not cough as much as Ted. Even Ted usually only coughs at night. They are both on antibiotics. Doc has increasingly become lethargic since Ted joined our family. Now, Doc has vomitted about once or twice a day for 4 days. (Yellow frothy). He doesn't eat much and is extremely lethargic. Any ideas what is going on? Ted sleeps ALOT, but plays more than Doc also.

  • Feline Leukemia Virus Test -...

My male cat was vaccinated for FeLV by his previous owner after being found wild. However, he has never been tested for it until I recently adopted him. The test came back with a "weak positive" and I am not sure what this means. I understand that Milo needs to be retested after a few weeks, but in the mean time I am worrying myself sick. What should I know and what can I do?

  • Arthritis in dogs

HI My 9 year old collie cross has been recently diagnosed with arthritis and the vet has recomended Glucosamine. I know this can be purchased via the internet, but i am confused as to what the doseage should be. Apart from a slow start in the mornings and after a long time lay down (when it's a bit of an effort to get up), she(my dog) appears well and happy. She still swims in the river on a regular basis and chases the odd ball when she finds a willing playmate. She is eating and drinking normally and i give her oily fish 2x weekly. Has anyone got any thoughts on this supplement, and how i can manage this progressive illness? Many thanks
