Hi, I have a 8 year old German Shephard - he has been vomiting and is very slow and lathargic - normally he is a guard dog (alert and fast) - he is also not accepting any food - i have read that it is best not to feed a dog for 24 hours - is this correct?

Dog collapsing and has heart murmors
Posted on 2009/07/17 by UserMy dog was recently diagnosed with heart murmors and was told she would probably develop congestive heart failure. She is a cocker spaniel and 14 yrs old. She has been coughing, not constantly, but at least a few times daily. In the past 2 weeks her hind legs would go out from underneath her and she would fall, stay calm on her side and her breathing would be rapid. She would lay there and urinate. After about 30 seconds to a minute she would get up and proceed as normal. She is still eating, drinking and is still loveable. Has difficulty getting up on couch, so we lift her. What should I be prepared for. Dr. said that he could try meds, but it would probably...

Dog is drinking way too much
Posted on 2009/07/29 by UserHi my dog for awhile has been suffering from a urinary tract infection, we took him to the vet and they said he had a bladder stone. They said that they could give him medicine for it, and then we would buy some special food only sold by vets to dissolve the bladder stone. Only, we didn't immediately because the food cost so much. A month later and his urinary tract infection was back so we bought the expensive food but now he won't stop drinking! He once sat at the bowl for three minutes, drinking and drinking. He drank so fast the other night the bowl started to shake. Is this a result of the medicine in the food? Is this the way it breaks down his bladder stone?

unwell dog
Posted on 2009/09/13 by RickHi, my 3 yr old Beagle is unwell. She has got a cough, is sneezing often, her nose is runny, has no energy (compared to how she is normally, has no interest in going for a walk yet normally loves going for walks), she is also occasionally sitting and shaking and is generally unwell yet she still has her appetite. I took her to the vet yesterday but the vet has no idea what her problem is and has given me antibiotics. This has been going on for approx 3 days and no improvement since the antibiotics. Anyone got any ideas? The vet didn’t think it was kennel cough and my beagle is fully vaccinated. Thanks....Jackie

Cat eats a lizard
Posted on 2009/09/18 by UserI caught Joe eating a very small lizard a couple of days ago. That night she threw up and the vomit was very liquid. Since then she has stopped eating anything solid. Any soft food I put down she licks the liquid off of, but leaves any solids. She will drink water and will urinate in her litter box. However she has not had a bowel movement for a couple of days. Other than this her behavior is normal if not a bit sluggish. Could my cat have been poisoned by the lizard and if so is there anything I can do at home?

Pink bumps on dog's belly
Posted on 2009/12/19 by UserAbout a week ago, my 1&1/2 year old female poodle developed eraser sized pink bumps around her armpits and groin area. She is constantly licking them. We think it could be due to her food but we're not sure. She has been a very healthy dog thus far and we can't stand to see her in pain. Any idea what this is or what we could do for her?
