last night Gingers anal gland appears to have opened or burst. she appears uncomfortable but not in pain. she is eating and moving fine. Can the open wound be treated with home remedies or does this type of incident (which has occurred in the past) mandate a trip to the vet? We recently moved and have not yet found a new vet near our new home.

Constant itch? High Protein Diest suggestions?
Posted on 2008/02/20 by UserMy dog is overweight. The vet told us to put her on a high protein diet, which is only dry dog food. She is refusing to eat. Any other suggestions for a highportein diet? She also sits on the floor and chases her back leg around and around in the floor. We keep frontline on her and she is a house dog but she acts like something is biting or itching. Any suggestions?

Sleeping and resting all day
Posted on 2008/02/21 by DianaMy 1 year old cat has been sick for 4 days now, sleeping and resting all day. He did not eat for the 1st day and his eyes were weak. The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th day he eats and drinks, and has been using the litter, but small amounts. His eyes are better. He is getting slightly better each day. He does go outside when well and may have eaten something, been bitten(no marks)??? I feel he is getting slightly more energetic each day. I think he still has a low fever and is fighting something slowly. Thank you for your help. diana

Terminal Cancer & Euthanasia
Posted on 2008/02/21 by JoannaOur 8 year-old spayed female cat had a unilateral mastectomy this past October to remove a single cancerous growth and hopefully prevent reoccurance. Her cancer has not only come back, it has exploded with growths in her nodes, hips, back, shoulders, legs, chest--pretty much everywhere. Her appetite has diminished, but not ceased, and she still has a full range of movement and enjoys being petted. While we want to keep her with us as long as possible, above all, we don't want her to suffer. Are there any less-than-obvious signs we should be looking for to know it's time to let her go?

Posted on 2008/02/22 by SUSIEGOOD MORNING ACTUALLY THIS IS MY DAUGHTERS DOG AND SHE IS EXTREMELY CONCERNED SINCE HER DOG IS SNEEZING BLOOD AND SHE TOOK HIM TO A LOCAL PET HOSPITAL AND THEY PUT THE DOG UNDER AND SCOPED OUT HIS NOSE SINCE THEY THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A FOX TAIL STUCK BUT NOTHING FOUND. GAVE HER AN ANTIBIOTIC AND BENADRYL SINCE THEY SAY IT MIGHT BE ALLERGIES. DOG IS LIFELESS AND JUST LAYS AROUND. IS THIS ALL SHE CAN DO FOR LITTLE PEANUT?
