Need some answers please
Posted on 2009/11/04 by Userthis dog I am asking about belongs to a homeless man, I feel he is not being truthful by saying she has asthma, yet she has green discharge coming from her nose and terrible breathing troubles most all the time. Why would a vet prescribe cephalexin ? Is she putting my dog at risk, I have since kept her away until I know in my heart she doesnt have something more serious.

Tissue Necrosis in Yellow Lab
Posted on 2009/11/18 by UserI have an eleven year old labrador mix who has developed a hard lump on her lower abdomen to one side. The first test many months ago showed nothing of concern, but when the lump grew significantly larger, we had it tested again. It is much harder than the lipomas to which she has become extremely prone and we learned that the mass was necrotic tissue. Our vet has recommended surgery to remove it, but has never done this particular procedure himself and knows of no other doctor within several hours of here who has. He's always been really great with our dogs, through regular care and surgeries alike, and we've never hesitated to put our complete faith in him (which...

Swollen neck
Posted on 2009/11/19 by PhyllisMy 5 year old male neutered Doberman suddenly has developed a swollen neck ~3 days ago. Doesn't appear painful or bothersome to him even when I pass my hand over it. It is soft and does not seem like there is a mass underneath. Eating and drinking well. Humph. What might this be? We do get ticks and are treated monthly with interceptor and comfortis.

Snake bite on a min. dachshund
Posted on 2009/11/19 by AlexisMy mom's dog, Pepper a 3 yr old min. dachshund, was snake bit on Sunday. She showed no symptoms, at first, just some swelling. Now, 3 days later, she has a big hole on her side that is draining puss & smells horrible. I have called several vets & clinics. None will treat her without money up front, which my mom doesn't have. She is currently giving Pepper amoxicillin, benedryl, & baby aspirin. Is there anything else she could do to treat her dog at home?

question about medications given to my...
Posted on 2009/11/19 by UserMy dog had diarrhea for 3 days with some vomiting at the beginning. He then seemed o.k. but had one more bout of vomiting. I took him to the vet out of concern. The vet said he was giving him a couple of shots to calm his digestive system down. Normally, I would ask what they were but I just assumed they were for the diarrhea. He also gave him some flagyll pills. When I got home, the dog was fine until later on when his heart seemed to be pounding and his eyes looked somewhat fixated. The next day he seemed fine, and we've been feeding him chicken and rice, but he didn't poop for 2 days. Then, today, he had diarrhea again. I called the vet to ask what shots he...
