If my dog licks someone who has herpes and sores on their mouth, will the dog get herpes too? Additionally, if the dog licks me and I don't have herpes, but the dog does, can it be transmitted to me?

Dog is circling and crying and biting the middle and base of his tail
Posted on 2009/01/08 by Usermy five year old rescue lab/pointer mix started crying tonight every once in a while and then chews at his tail. He went out and circled three times and then laid on his stomach and cried and then got up and ran in the house. His tail is down. He had a normal stool earlier today and also was negative for worms.

My puppy is not feeling well.
Posted on 2009/01/07 by UserI have a 6 month old Chihuahua puppy. He hasn't been his usual self the last couple days. The day before yesterday he was lathargic and felt as though he was running a fever, and he shivered. I bundled him up and finally got him to drink, though he refused to eat. Yesterday he was on the mend, not his usual self, but playful. Sometime last night he threw up, but seemed okay this morning. This afternoon when I got home he was sick again and doesn't want to eat. He doesn't feel warm, but wants to be bundled and held. He also sound like his nose is stuffed up. Is this just a cold or something more serious?

My Dog Vomits As Soon As He Drinks Water, (nothing To Do With The Temp Of The Water or volume).. He Can Hold His Food Down For Hours..then Drinks And Vomits All Over The Place. Took Him To The Vets And Got Meds About Two Weeks Ago, Gave Him Ground Turkey And White Rice. While On This Diet And Meds No Problems But As Soon As The Meds Ran Out And He Got Switched Over To The Normal Food He Began To Vomit Again.

Blood in vomit and poop
Posted on 2009/01/10 by UserMy 9 year old boxer/pitt mix has been sick the past 3 days. The first two day the vomit was yellow in color. Today it has been mixed with a little blood, and I noticed some in her last stool. I have no money to take her to a vet, can you give me some advice. Thank you very much!

I took my 14 year old cat to the vet for a horrible ear mite infection and now, four days later, one of her eyes are dilated. The dilated eye is unresponsive to light and light bothers her. This has never happened before. Can you help please.

5 year old dog with increased urination and shaking ears
Posted on 2009/01/10 by UserMy step-daughters bassett hound suddenly began having increased urination (with accidents but urine doesn't have strong smell) and its ears are shaking/twitching. Only the ears shake/twitch (not the whole body). The dog walks okay, doesn't indicate any pain. Has decreased appetite. It has sleepers in its eyes. This has been going on for 4-5 days. Any suggestions?

puppy with diarrhea
Posted on 2009/01/10 by UserMy puppy arrived from a breeder in Oregon with giardia. He's been treated and is testing negative for every kind of parasite, but still has very soft stool. He's had soft stool for three weeks. Can I give him Immodium AD? He's 4 months old and weighs about 24 lbs. He's a goldendoodle. I'm feeding him dry organic puppy food with white rice and a little chicken breast.
