My highly nervous Russian Blue cat has started urinating & defecating by my front door. He uses the litter, which he shares with his brother, during the day but seems nervous about it, even when I hold the flap open for him & encourage him. This is a new behaviour (a few days) which may be linked to my having had workmen downstairs fixing a leak. What can I do to stop him?

Cat's Claw
Posted on 2009/01/06 by UserHello! About 3 weeks ago my cat had a broken claw in her front paw ( thumb one). I took her to the vet and they took out the whole claw (under anesthesia). They gave me a bottle of antibiotic (ClindaCure) to be administered once for the next 10 days and charged me $125. Three weeks has passed by and my cat's thumb looks swollen and she almost cant use her paw to walk. Is this normal after this procedure? How much time it would take for her to recuperate from this "surgery"... I cannot spend another $125!! Please help!

Scratching and licking problem on a dog
Posted on 2009/01/01 by UserMy new Black Lab (he's 6 years old) seems to nervously lick his paws and scratch his sides. When he came to me, he had a skin and ear infection (due to being left outside in the Florida heat and fed a very cheap dog food) that I cleared up with anti-biotics and by changing his food to a high grade dog food (Nutro Ultra) which does not contain any wheat or corn. I have also begun walking him once or twice a day to give him exercise. My other dogs do not lick their paws or scratch continuously. He has no fleas, ticks, sores, and I bathe him once a week. His coat appears shiny and beautiful. What are other possible reasons why he scratching and licking?

Dog behavior
Posted on 2009/01/02 by UserMy 4 year old female Jack Russell stares and bites at things that are non-exsistant. It is as if she is trying to bite a bug crawling on the floor of if on the bed, bedspread. She is normally well behaved, has other dogs and toys that she plays with, both inside and out. She does exhibit signs of jealously towards one of the other dogs if one of them comes up while she is being petted. She gets along fine with the other animals, both cat and dogs. I would not describe this behavior as "consuming" but I am concerned that it will develop into something else. Thanks in advance for your answer.

Puerperal Tetany
Posted on 2009/01/02 by UserWell my Pomeranian just had 3 puppies and she's fairly small. She's had Puerperal Tetany and we took her to the vet once. Then it happened again but this time we did not take her due to the expenses of the hospital. We gave her calcium supplements and it got better. Now this time it's been worse because she's thrown up, bled from her mouth, and thrown up blood. After the vets finish up and get her better (if she does), do we still let her nurse the three puppies? And they're about 3 weeks old.
