Skin irriation
Posted on 2008/02/20 by UserMy cat was a stray that I brought home from a shelter about 4 weeks ago. While in the shelter he started excessively rubbing his face to the point where he has rubbed the hair off around his nose and it is now looking raw and sore. He received a clean bill of health before I brought home home and hoped that as he settled in this behavior would stop but so far there has been no change. Is there anything I can do or any creams that could help with ease the raw skin and/or the discomfort he is obviously feeling? difficult fur

My Lab has a UTI...and I'm in a bind
Posted on 2008/02/23 by R.A.My dog has a UTI. She had one about 7 months ago and it the vet said that she drinks too much water and it lowered the PH of her urine. It occurred, I believe because she had to hold it too long- a fact which causes me guilt to this day. I had a stretch of a week at work where I was away from home for more than 12 hours. It was a stressful situation, but she was put on antibiotics and it cleared within a few days. As you know, Labs are very tolerant by nature, and that includes pain. Some dropped off two puppies at my home in north texas. they have brown flecks in thier fur. one has a sore, non weeping irregelar surface . after giving them a bath I noticed the brown flecks were white. i used a flee comb and found the flecks are a small mite about 1/16th on an inch long with a u shaped body. the heads are brown and the body is white. there are millions of them. what are they?

HELP!!! Sarcoptes Mites-- do they really take more than a month to get rid off?? How about the itch?

Feb 1st, we brought her to the vet, they told us that she had a puppy acne of sorts, gave us medication and sent us home. 4 Days later, our dog was whimpering so much when she itched.. and the itching was non stop. She has little crusty circle on her ears and parts of her face.. and the more she itched the worse it got. So- they gave us Ivermecin (sp) for Sarcopties Mites.. then2 weeks after that, the itching had resolved a bit, but she was now biting her paws so bad they were bleeding and open. So-- we brought her again to the ER she was placed on Celphlexin (sp) and we were told to continue w/ the Ivermecin....
