I have a 12 year old cat not a pedigree. For the last 3 days not eating and drinking little water. Has lost some weight. I have given her baby food thru a syringe. She doesn't spit it back up. No runny eyes or nose. She has always been an inside cat. Today I offered her some canned salmon, dry cat food(one of her favorites) and a different kind of canned food and she could careless. Not interested. She has never had any major health issues. Can't afford to take her in til next week. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Lisa

I have been told by one of the experts at the pet shop to put olive oil but it doesnt seem to work for this budgie. It's always looking so sleepy , not active, and i havet seen him eat . Last time it was like this we went to the vet and spent alot of $ Im wondering if there is a way I could do at home. Please tell me a good way of treating the scaly mites. I really love Ruru

Shelter Cat w/URI contagious?
Posted on 2009/02/01 by UserI just adopted a 1 yr old female cat from the animal shelter. She was spayed and given feline distemper, upper respiratory vaccinations and dewormer on 1/21/09. I brought her home on 1/27/09. 2 days after bringing her home she began to sneeze, have nasal discharge and act lethargic. On 1/29/09 I took her to my Vet and he said she didn't have a fever, no mouth sores, wasn't dehydrated, but appeared to have an URI. Vet gave me Amoxicillin and I've been giving her 10 mcg 2Xday, feeding her baby food and forcing water w/an ear bulb to keep her eating and hydrated. I have a 6.5 yr old neutered male cat who is current on his vaccinations. Is it necessary to keep her...

14 yr old cat not eating, loosing weight
Posted on 2009/02/02 by Usermy cat is 14 years old. she has always loved to eat, and has always been a little on the heavy side... but healthy. however, in the last couple of weeks she has lost a great deal of weight, and i can no longer get her to eat... i have also noticed her breathing is louder and heavier... so my question is, is this part of her age, or is there anything a veterinarian can do to help her?

Constipation
Posted on 2009/02/02 by UserWhat to do if your Dog is Constipated? Dog has been constipated for 3 days now. Slight bowl movement. Dog seems to be uncomfortable although she is still eating. I was wondering If it was safe to give her a Human Laxative or Stool Softner?

My yorkshire puppy was playing outside today and he hurt himself. There is a stick stuck inside of his skin and it seems to be in there pretty deep. Not inward but more just inside the skin. I can feel the stick inside under the skin. Is there something I can do to take it out or should I wait and take him to a vet which will cost? And is there a way to take it out and take care of it myself?

Any Advi ce
Posted on 2009/02/02 by RyanMy dog woke up, whining, frantic. She tried to defecate, I am not sure if she did or not. Now she is lying down and every few minutes she throws her head back, it seems like she is doing it every time she swallows.
