Is my cat suffering?
Posted on 2009/01/10 by MaryI have a cat that is about 13. For several months now he has been going down hill. First it started with him losing a lot of weight. He had a little bit of diarrhea The vet did blood work and everything looked fine but tried an antibiotic and anti parasite drugs. That didn't work and so the vet tried a steroid. Still no results and now the diarrhea is worse and he is no longer making it to the litter box. I cannot afford ultra sound and i feel badly but i can see my cat suffering and he no longer cleans him self and I love him but he smells badly and I wont let him sleep with me anymore in my bed. I feel guilty but I am also frustrated having to clean up his loose...

rabies vaccination
Posted on 2009/01/11 by TamaraI just got a chihuahua-under 2 lbs and 4 yrs old that was left at a dog groomers salon. He could stand to put on another pound but is not scrawny, just very tiny. The previous owner told them he had current shots but left no records and did not say if this was a 1 or 3 yr rabies shot. Is it harmful to get the dog re-vaccinated in order to license him? Is there a test the vet can do to see if he has the vaccines?

eye infection
Posted on 2009/01/11 by UserMy 5 month old kitten has a very swollen and pink eye with quite a bit of bright green goopy discharge. It doesn't seem to be causing her any discomfort, she's not meowing more than usual or scratching at it, etc. It is however quite troublesome to my husband and I. We live in a rural area and can't get her in to see a vet for a few days. Is there anything we can do for her in the meantime?

Taking Topomax
Posted on 2009/01/19 by UserShe is fine. I guess that she didn't actually get any of the medication. Thanks a lot for responding. I clearly misunderstood how fast this site would garner an answer, but I will know better how to use it now. Barb H.

Blister like bumps and swelling on a 10...
Posted on 2009/01/22 by UserOur 10 week old puppy came to us ill. He wasn't able to walk well and was weak. I called the local vet and they suggested canned puppy food, baby aspirin, cottage cheese, baby pedialyte and physical therapy(massages and letting him walk). By following directions, the puppy has improved greatly on his strength and walking well. However, the last few days, he has developed some blister like growths around his snout, mouth and chin. It looks like it has some yellow fluids in the blisters. His face and neck is swollen. His eyes are leaky with some puss. I switched his food lastnight thinking that he could possibly be allergic to the food. What else could be wrong and what...

For several months now she has been growling when you go to touch her to pet her, not all of the time but a couple of times a week. Shes not in pain, and sometimes she will do it and is told no and we still pet her, she nudges us with her head like she wants us to countinue to pet her but still growls? She has even gone as far as to snap and show teeth a hand full of times? Why do you tink this is going on? She has been corrected, and even put in the bathroom with the door shut for time outs because of this??? Can you please help me with some sort of...
