Cat w/ third eyelid showing
Posted on 2008/11/15 by Usermy 4 mo. old kitten has had his 3rd eyelid showing for about 4-5 weeks. He's frequently licking his bottom but I see no worms nor any in his stool. He has had a few loose stools with a little vomit as well. He's also much thinner than his sister. Now my other cats have their 3rd eyelid showing, upset tummies and sneezing. Vet at the animal shelter said nothing is wrong but my gut feeling is otherwise.

pregnant mare
Posted on 2008/10/30 by UserMy 9 year old mare was exposed to a 3 year old colt from October 07 to February 08 when I found out that he was with her and demanded she be moved. She is now showing signs of being in foal (or so my friends say) She has a large belly that is very hard and she does not like me to poke at it.. About 2 months ago her milk glands in front of her udder started to swell but there is no heat in them. About 2 weeks ago I checked her for milk and got a clear liquid from her teats - I check her almost every day now to see if it turns a milky color (my friends said it will turn color before she foals. My question is could a 9 year old mare that has never been bred have these signs...

Bloody mucusy stool
Posted on 2008/11/06 by UserThis morning during our walk, my 7-month-old Boxer stopped several times to potty. Each time she has a bloody mucus like spotted stool but with very little bowel. When I took her out this morning, her stool was pasty and had a little blood at the very end but not sure why. She has been de-wormed, has had all of her shots, and is a very happy puppy otherwise.

A national charity will be opening a new, subsidized, high volume spay-neuter clinic in my city next month. The main difference in service between this and my regular clinic is that the former won't be offering the following: 1. Pre-operative blood work; and 2. Administration of IV fluids. I wasn't able to neuter my dog earlier for a number of reasons and now as a mature male, the cost of neutering him at my clinic is prohibitive (c. $500 compared to $60). I want the best health care for my dog but I have to consider the financial implications. Is it safe to neuter him without administering IV fluids and should I be concerned about the lack of pre-op blood...

Sick puppy

recently rescued a kitten - izzie has developed a lot of itchiness - brush her everyday (no fleas kitten or dog) but kitten had a sever case of kitten mites - my real concern is that today when brushing izzie, noticed that only one of her nipples was double the size of others and it was very red and it appeared to have blood on it (like maybe raw skin) - could she be allergic to kitten - what should i look for and what do i need to do for her

Sneezing baby rat
Posted on 2008/11/04 by CynthiaMy baby rat of 9 weeks has started to sneeze every so often. I have also found little spots of red on her bedding, don't know if it's blood because it's very light in color. We have recently got her a new cage mate, would that be causing her stress and causing the sneezing? or could she have respiratory disease? Please help!
