Deteriorating health
Posted on 2008/11/13 by AndyMy 11 yo chow mix has eaten very little in the past 3 weeks. He is very lethargic, weak and thin. He shows no interest in dog food and just a little in people food. He is still drinking water good. Our local vet had him for 10 days. They put him on IVs, B vitamins, prednizone, Naxcel, Doxycyclene, and Cipro. On his initial visit his wbc count was 54,000 and when I took him home their machine could not find any wbcs. They diagnosed jaundice and anemia but nothing else. What could be the root cause of all this? I feel that he is near death.

I found a squirrel in my horse field and i think it has vestibular disease although i'm not sure if squirrels can get it? i have put him in a dark box with food and water but he is tilting his head and running round in circles, i don't want to let him chance the wild as i know he will get into trouble, he is so vulnerable, please help! what can i do? is there any way i can make him better so i can then release him?
