I have a new problem. I wrote to you last week about mites and have taken him to vet since then. Could Mometamax given to him for mites, bacteria cause Jake to collapse? Jake went down on ground and my husband picked him up. Jake was alert whole time. Also received-- generic Lanoxin . Jake has always been on non-generic. I used new for two days. I have called and requested new non-generic Lanoxin prescrition. My husband was walking him on his usual walk and he is fine other wise since this happened. He has eaten and has no problems with his legs. Heart is beating 100 times a minute same as when in Vet. Jakes medicine. She prescribed Mometamax. I had...

Urinary Infection
Posted on 2008/11/26 by PriscillaHi, My cat has a urinary infection and the vet gave him Baytril 68 mg, which I have gave 1/2 pill for the last 10 days. A few days after starting the medication he seemed to be doing better, not going to litter box as often and I was able to hear him pee when he did go. Tonight however, after giving the medicine I noticed the same old signs. He continues to go to litter box very often, every few minutes and only dribbles. I have been giving the Baytril with a pill popper so I'm sure that he has got every dose. I always wait a few minutes to make sure he doesn't spit it out or anything like that. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks, Priscilla

Parrot medicines / what is Bird biotic?
Posted on 2009/01/06 by UserDear pet advisor, My African Grey was sick just before Christmas and was treated with a drug called doxicycline. But a friend of mine told me that he used a medicine called Bird Biotic from a pet store when his parrot got sick and that it is the same drug and that is even safe for humans !? We are having a little disagreement about this. Is it the same drug? I checked online, and it seems to be but even if it is shouldn't a sick bird see a vet first? And if it really isn't the same drug, I'd like to be able to tell him that so he won't use it any more. Thank you very much for any information.

post surgery care
Posted on 2008/10/31 by Usermy cat had ear hemetoma surgery on monday. he was sent home with no pain killers/ oitment and i was instructed to just apply a hot pack to his ear 4 times a day. his ear got pussy/smelly after three days because he was crying so much i couldn't do the hot pack as much as i was told. when i brought him back, the vet said it was pussy because i didn't do the hot pack enough. he pulled all the scabby puss with his hands while while my cat was screaming in pain. he said no oitment was necessary, just keeping it clean with hot water. i've been doing this a lot now for the past 24h but it is getting yellow again and smells bad. is there anything i can put on it to prevent...

Female Great Dane
Posted on 2008/11/17 by UserMy 2 1/2 year old great dane just had her first litter of puppies. She seems to not be feeling well and she just had another puppy 3 days after having the rest of them. She has a lot of saliva coming from her mouth as well. I took her temperature and it's fine. Do you think she will be OK and was not feeling well because she had a puppy still in her for so long???
