Our 2 yr old, 11 lb. chihuahua ate a rib bone 6 hours ago, does not seem to be in distress at this time, but should we see someone in the AM or could this be OK and we should wait and watch? thank you

Your chichuahua really picked the right bone huh? Hopefully it wasn't in one piece. If it has been 6 hours past usually it would have already started the breaking down process in the stomach. No distress now doesn't mean there may not be later on. I would call your veterinarian in the morning and see what they suggest. They may want to take a quick x-ray to make sure it's passing and not going to be stuck somehwere it shouldn't be since those bones aren't very small and they can be sharp.A little trick we use in my clinic is to give some bread ,It helps to coat the bone as it's passing through. Sometimes they don't pass and that's the problem you need to know just in case.
