i think my dog is dying

  • fred

i think my friends dog is dying. its lost most of its hair and the first layer of its skin in a lot of places. hes covered in scabs and raw skin. hes really sick and doesnt want to eat and hes just laying there and even when he puts his head up he keeps his eyes closed. hes in a lot of pain. and he starts heaving and breathing heavy and i think its death rattles. what can we do? its the middle of the night and we cant even go to a pet hospital because they require a $500 deposit and we dont have it. what can i do?

Symptoms: breathing, exercise intolerance, head tilt, itching & scratching, lethargy, no appetite & anorexia, pain, wounds, ears, lameness, lumps and swellings, seizures & fits

I as sorry to hear that your friends dog is suffering so much.

I think it would be in his best interests to take him to the Vets ASAP, he is obviously suffering and has been for a while.

I know it is a hard descision to make but it really would prevent any further suffering.

Has he been treated at all for this skin condition/illness do they know how bad he is?

I hope that you will be able to sort this soon.

    Kind Regards

Sorry - it lost part of my answer there..

There really is nothing that you can do, just keep him as confortable as possible untill you can arrange to take him to, or to get the vets out to him.

thankyou for writing back. we found a vet that will take $115 in advance on his treatment and we can get that when my friend cashes her tax check this morning. i was amazed he lived through the night but he did. and he ate some food, and got up for a minute and walked around. were still taking him to the hospital as soon as we can get the check cashed though. thanks again.
