I can't sleep!

Rating: 9
Butters
Butters

I'm sure this is a common problem. My cat, Butters starts meowing/clawing at the bedroom door at around 3AM and refuses to stop. I live in a tiny one bedroom apartment so there's nowhere else I can put him when he starts to act up. I've tried letting him in when he meows, but then he just attacks my feet. I've tried spraying him with water every time but now he is just trained to run away when the door opens. (Then goes right back when the door closes.) I've also tried those soft claws (the clawing keeps me awake more then meowing) but he just rips them off after a day. I just don't know what to do anymore. Please help!

Is Butters an indoor cat? Or does he have access to outside?

Cats tend to be more active during the early morning and evenings when it begins to get light or dark as this is when they would normally hunt little mice etc. Butters probably wants to hunt and feet make great substitutes. If he can not get out perhaps it might help him if you added lots of enrichment to your flat. Extra places to get up on to, toys to play and hunt, food to find etc.

    Hope this helps

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
