is my cat sick?

Last night several times one of my cats made a weird noise(I'm sorry, I don't know how to describe it) that he'd never made before. Today he has been lying in one of the litter boxes throughout the day. He has never done this before. I don't think he has eaten anything today. I found regurgitated food (undigested) this morning. He let me pick him up but seemed tense. What should I do or watch for? He let me touch his extremities and pet him and I didn't find anything unusual.

is he trying to go to the toilet in strange places? or straining alot on his litter tray. sounds like he might have a urine infection which can make them feel sick, which is why he is not interested in his food. has he passed any urine or faeces in the past 24 hours? were they normal? or blood or mucous? if he remains lethargic today or hasn't passed urine he needs to be checked by a vet, male cats are particularly common for getting urine infections and blocked. hope this helps.
