My dog is urinating for around 2 minutes at a time. its not a constant flow, its trickling out. Do you know what the problem may be?

Hi, You are right that urinating for 2 minutes is excessively long. Further info I would want to know is: 1) Does the urine itself appear normal? Cloudy? Any blood? 2) Is snatch drinking more than usual? The possible diagnoses are as follows. 1) A urinary tract infection (UTI). This is quite common. Diagnostic tests are seldom performed (though a vet could conceivably send off a urine sample for bacterial culture, normally the dog would be just given a course of antibiotics. If the problem disappears it was probably a UTI. If it doesn't, it warrants further tests) 2) Cystitis. Similar to above, this just means inflammation of the bladder wall - probably due to a bacterial infection so antibiotics are prescribed (usually amoxicillin/clavulanate) 3) A prostate problem. Very unlikely in a 2 year old dog. 4) Rare conditions such as bladder or urethral tumors. Again, very unlikely in a young dog. Hope this helps. If you take him to a vet, you will almost certainly be prescribed a course of antibiotics to rule out a UTI or cystitis.
