Brown Stain

My dog has recenly adopted a brown stain and we believe it's from her saliva... she has stain all around her mouth, nose, eyes and on her feet from licking her feet. It is also on her bed. I have given her an antihistimine but nothing has helped. Can you offer any advice. My vet tells me it's probably an allergy and there is nothing that we can do unless we want to go thru the long process of elimination. She also seems to gag occasionally and will spit up a yellow substance.

it may be her teeth, have a look in her mouth, if there is excessive plaque (this is usually on the molars, the back teeth) this can cause problems such as abscesses or broken teeth, her breathe will also smell. this problem can increase saliva which will cause the staining around the mouth and also on the front legs as they salivate when asleep on the fore limbs which will cause the discolouration, the eye staining may be from blocked tear ducts or other eye problem, unfortunately these breeds are susceptible to eye and skin problems.
