Urinary problem

Hello.... My cat bled quite a lot yesterday when trying to urinate. I took him to the vet, who examined his tummy and his bottom and told me there was no blockage and it seems to be an infection. He gave him an injection and a course of Metacam & Clavaseptin. SInce he's been home he keeps trying to urinate and nothing is happening. He's pacing around and doesn't pay much attention to anything else. I'm concerned about him and scared to go to sleep leaving him suffering. Anything I can do?

I would not leave him until the morning. I would take him to an emergency vet and have him admitted.

The symptoms you are describing are of a cat that is blocked.

If you want to be sure you can very gently touch his lower abdomen (between his hind legs) and see if you feel a very hard or large 'balloon'.

If you do this is his bladder and he needs to get to a vet ASAP!

Just felt his tummy... no hardness or balloon, but I am not a vet and would rather have him looked at again.

Usually any cat should urinate at least once every 8 hours. If it has been this long I would get him to a veterinarian.

Good luck with your little boy, and I hope he feels more comfy soon!

Thanks... Not sure if he's urinated in the last 8 hours cos he shares his litter tray with his brother (both indoor cats). I will get him to the vet to be sure cos he's far too precious to me to put him in any risk. Appreciate your advice :)
