Urinating on Bed

Rating: 8

My dog has gotten up on the bed and actually urinated on it three times. Two of the times it was on mine and my husband's bed and this last time it was on my son's bed She is house trained and has not had any accidents on the floor/carpet. I have not idea of why she would get up on the beds and urinate right in the middle of them. Please help...thank you!

    Hi Jolene

Believe it or not this is a relatively common problem and is often associated with marking for what ever reason. This may be to increase her familiarity with your nice clean smelling duvet (anxiety issues) or she might have some status issues. Without seeing the dog and your relationship with her it would be difficult for me to give you any advice as all problems are individual. However, a good qualified behaviourist should be able to help you and I would suggest that you ask your vet to recommend one.

For now clean your duvets and do not allow her up onto the beds. It would also be sensible to have her checked by your vet for any medical conditions related to urination.

Sorry not to be any more help but behavioural problems are usually complicated and need one to one help.

Good Dog? Bad Dog? By Rosie Barclay. This book concentrates on changing the traditional views of how we perceive and treat our dogs using what we have learned from scientific research so far. It starts at the beginning by looking at ways of how to chose and bring up a new puppy that may reduce the likelihood of future problems. It then goes on to cover different problems that commonly occur between owners and their maturing or adult dogs by discussing real case studies. TO BUY VISIT www.rosiebarclay.com
