My dog has swallowed the string net that goes around a joint of beef; he grabbed it from the bin and as I tried to grab him he swallowed it. He is a small dog, a mongrel, about 13 kilos. He looks and seems fine. What should I do?

Just keep an eye on him. If he starts to lose his appetite or he seems to be going potty less often than I'd take him to the vet to get checked out. It should pass on it's own eventually.
