Hello, thank you for your question. To be honest with you, renal failure will not get better. You can only make your pet feel better and by him/her some time. The best thing you can to for your pet is treat with subcutaneous fluids a few times a week and change her diet to K/D. It is a prescription diet made by hills. You can by your pet plenty of time with this treatment. There is also a pro-biotic called Azodyl that works well with cleaning the body of nitrogenous wastes (which is what the kidneys do.)
Look for vomiting and anorexia (refusal to eat.)
I am sorry to hear about your pet, but this is the best I can offer you in terms of treratment.
Best Wishes,
Kristina

My cat was diagnosed with renal disease when he was 3 (BUN 116, creatnine 9.7) as well, and now he is 8 1/2. There is no cure, however you can treat the disease. He gets fluids under the skin every other day, and we go in for blood testing every 3-4 months. He hated the prescription foods that I bought him, so I just feed him whatever quality low protien cat food he will eat. I wish you the best of luck with your kitty, there are options out there and I won't say that it has been cheap or easy, but it certainly has been worth it. If your vet is unwilling to discuss options with you I would suggest another vet, maybe a cat specialist? Good luck! Julie
