My cat urinates everywhere

my cats urinates everywhere. she had been toilet trained since she was very young, then all of a sudden she started to urinate everywhere, we have another female cate (from the same litter), so i dont know if she is marking her territory or if it is a behavioral issue. she does also use the litter tray quite often but, she still seems to urinate throught the house. We had her spayed 2 months ago, and that hasnt seemed to make much difference. Is it a behavioral thing or is she marking her territory, and what can we do to change her behavior?

  I think the first thing to do is to take a urine sample and the cat to the vet just to rule out any medical probelms.  Then at least you can be sure there is nothing more serious going on, once given the all clear by the vet you need to start thinking about behavioural problems.  Have there been any changes in the household?  You can get some good pheromone diffusers which you can plug in the same as the air freshners, these have a natural calming effect on the cat and help to reduce the stress factors for the animal.

  It is also important to use a correct pet cleaner as some detergents can aggrevate a marking problem as they leave a scent of their own, which the animal then wants to mark again.
